Will U.S. online Poker ever be fully banned?

Just looking for opinions. I'd hate to see it go and I was wondering if someone could give their input as to whether poker will keep growing in popularity or will one day be fully banned from online play in the United States.

Personally, I'm not really sure, government officials can really be greedy bastards in my opinion, and if they aren't seeing any revenue from it I could see them banning online poker for American Citizens.

I agree, the UIGEA will be repealed. However those in favor of the current prohibitive US position on internet gambling are still very influential. It could take a couple more years before UIGEA is repealed and likely replaced with some compromise bill regulating internet gambling in the US. Just today the US struck a deal to offer the EU trade concessions in compensation for trade restrictions imposed by the UIGEA.

I dont think poker will ever be fully banned in the US. There's casino's and various states have tournament wiggle room. As far as online, im sure SOMEDAY it will come around, doesnt look good right now though. US is trying to settle WTO disputes at the moment which could cost billions. Its sad, the government shouldnt have the right to tell people they cant spend their money in a fashion in which they so desire. Smoke cigarettes... drink some alcohol.. play poker online, for money... no way... CRAP!!!

Online poker isn't banned only the funding of it is banned. As long as there is money to be made someone will find a way around that. The government learned that with prohibition. My guess is that it will be allowed as long as there is way to regulate (i.e.TAX) it.
