| Will a pro take down the Main Event? It seems possible this year more than ever. With the numbers being as low as they're projected, we might see a pro finally take it down. I'm not saying a few thousand less players makes it easier, but with the numbers the way they are, I wouldn't be surprised to see some big names at the final table this year. I predict Chris Ferguson or a wild horse in Shannon Shorr winning the Main Event. Who are your picks? And my new article previewing the 2009 World Series of Poker is out. Check it! |

C'mon folks this is a freeroll! If you're right, you're gonna look like a super genius in a few months and if you're wrong who cares! Give me the Clever Piggy! I'll take Allen Cunningham |

| I don't think so 'cause some pros play in high stakes games where the blinds are 4000/8000 dollars so when you pay 10000 for a main event tickets ( the majority get the ticket for free ) it is very hard to concentrate ... but still if I gotta pick one it would be Allen Cunningham or phil hellmuth !! |

| Erm... maybe I missed something. Who exactly is expecting the field to be a few thousand runners smaller than previous years? I think the chances of a pro taking it down this year are no different to what they've been in any post-boom year: minimal. Though it'll probably depend on how loose your definition of "pro" is. |

The economy is just taking it's toll. But we'll see. There will be many a prop bet made on the final number. |

| I agree it's going to be difficult for a pro to do. But that being said I think if it's done it'll be by someone like Hellmuth, Ferguson, or a Cunningham type player that's patient as well as talented. Ivey is great but I dont think aggressive pros like him are patient enough to make theri way through the maze of amateur players and bad beats. |

ps. I also hope that by typing this I have jinxed it and lots of pros are at the final table b/c that is what I would like to see as well. |
