Hey everyone, I found a pretty interesting article about the merits of whether online gambling will be legalized this year, specifically relating to online casino games, such as poker. I thought it made some pretty good points, the government is under a lot of pressure to come up with new streams of revenue with the deficit out-of-whack, so this could provide some extra incentives to pass this type of legislations. It seems as though more Republicans are open to it. Personally, I doubt it will pass this year, but it does seem like a viable option in the near future.

If online poker was legalized, and there was no blackout period, that would be awesome! That was the big issue last year was that it seemed like the blackout period thing came up out of nowhere. Also, I saw that article on the front page of yahoo mrmood, it was a pretty good read. But as they mentioned, it's going to be tough with Spencer Bachus heading the financial committee.

dipwads

As this nation deteriorates beyond repair by off-shoring of our finances and industry, the dipwads in the District of Criminals are too stooooopid to realize tapping this revenue stream could alleviate some of our woes.
It is eye-opening (re:astounding) to just ponder the millions, if not billions, of revenue that are flowing out of this country on a daily basis in online poker rake and fees!
Until the criminal corrupt politicians figure out how to "steal" from this legislation, (for their own personal gain, and back-room deals)), it will remain "back burner-ed"!
Just my two frog pelts worth!

My, My Garfield....What BIG eyes you have! :O)

I agree with you, all it will take is for the carrer politicians to see how online poker taxing can grease their slimey pockets and they will legalize it faster then a $20 hooker gets rid of her trick

The government will screw up online poker as we know it if they become involved. California was considering having only a couple of legal online poker rooms and the players would all be from California. I hate the idea of losing poker friends and decent competition from worldwide competition.

Not this year. Not until 2012. Dems will not rock the boat against morality, Repubs not particularly into freedom. So, we need another election.
