I am being told that playing NL10 is not worth my time because of the rake at ft.

How could NL25 possibly be that much better?

Yes. If you're rolled for NL10 only you're better off moving to Stars. At NL25 and up they are the same.

I have like $350. I'm thinking about just going for 25nl and hoping for the best. I've played 25nl before but quit when i started loosing.

But with a HUD I think I can do decent....

re: Why the higher the stakes, the less rake hurts your win rate?

Of course it's more risky being under rolled, but it's certainly possible with average or better luck. I actually started playing NL25 at FT with only $200, I justified it because I had enough $$ at Bodog to consider myself rolled for NL25 when considered in total. I caught some cards early and quickly got to the point were I could feel comfortable at those stakes.
