Why is the 7 2 the computer hand?

Does anybody know why they call the 7 2 the computer hand?

Im pretty sure its Q7, and a simple google would most likely come up with the answer.

7/2 is *not* the computer hand. Q/7 is. The reason Q/7 got that name was because, according to a computer simulation run back in the early 1980's (I think) that was the lowest hand that will get you a profit if you get called by a random hand.

7/2 is sometimes called "The beer hand" because it's so terrible that people will often fold it out of position so that they can go get a beer. But some people call any cruddy hand a beer hand.

I've never heard about this before. Very nice anectode. Neither the beer hand nor the computer hand. Nice one. Then does this mean Q7 has a positive expectation? And Q6 has negative?

Against a random hand, yes.
