| Why? Why do the majority of people playing online. 1. Constantly over-bet. 2. Constantly go all-in. 3. And promote over aggressive play. This is constantly done especially in free-rolls and low-limit games. I have come to the conclusion that the people that are doing this just don't give a damn about playing hold-em. They just want to walk all over other people that are just trying to have a good time. All these people do is ruin it for others. I have seen many sites (and vids on you-tube) promoting this type of behavior. And actually having the audacity to charge others to teach them how to do this. To those of you that practice this sort of behavior I say. Grow up, get a real life and move out of your parents basement for Gods sake. If you have so much money to walk all over others in low no-limit games, then move up. I swear, I have seen soooo many of these fools that I feel that playing hold-em online just is not worth the time. It's no fun anymore. I've even seen one fool teaching others to constantly go all-in in re-buys and just keep re-buying. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!!! This is not poker, this is just being ignorant and I'm sure that people like Doyle Brunson would not approve. I'm sure some (if not many) of you are going to say that I'm just whining. That it's just low-limit games or it's just a free-roll and free-rolls don't mean anything. To which I respond. If this is the case then why the hell are playing in these games? Go find games that (in your opinion) do mean something. I know I'm going to piss a lot of people off with this but guess what? I DON"T GIVE A DAMN!!!!! After all, you don't give a damn about ruining other peoples good time. Why the hell should I care about pissing you off? |

Again it depends on what you are talking about. If it's later in a tournament and your M is less than ten, then you have to shove. Most the low limit MTT's and freerolls structures almost make the late stages of the tournament a shove fest do to the blinds increasing so fast. If you are playing turbos this will happen even sooner. Quote:

However, to the poker newbie some plays that seem questionable, sometimes aren't due to things such as stack sizes, blinds, M ratio, position, player tendencies, ICM ect. Welcome to CC!!! Last edited by TPC : 28th May 2010 at 2:58 AM. |

| re: Why? poker Ummm..I think your outlook is slightly strange. Yes, the play at those limits is sometimes pretty bad. Isn't that a good thing? I wish I could sit down at 200NL and have maniacs pushing all-in every other hand with junk - I'd be a very rich man. What is it exactly that you want from the game? For everyone to agree to a standard set of rules - where you're not allowed to overbet/go all-in/be aggressive? People can play poker any way they choose. You can't get angry just because they're not playing the game the way you want it to be played. Learn how to exploit those players, how to adapt your game to beat their game. And perhaps if you're having such a miserable time, you should consider just....not playing. |

| You are going to come across every strategy in every level. You can play tight aggressive like Dan Harrington, Howard Lederer and Chris Ferguson, or you can play loose aggressive like Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan and Patrik Antonius. Over agressive can only be defined by the table and game situation. If you are at a table full of nits at the bubble raising every hand is a positive ev strategy. |

| Also have to agree with TPC. As someone who has played numerous freerolls and continues to play microstakes. I find there are two types of aggressive. The donks who I love because it's easy money , and me betting over the top because I have the edge and I know I'll get called. There is a third kind of aggressive I like that I use very rarely which is to try and take someone out of the table. It's basic logic that if no new money gets injected into a ring game all the chips wind up leaving as rake so it's imdo incumbent upon everyone to try and take a short stack out and bring fresh chips to the table. For this reason I will try and not give cheap looks to a short stacker if I think I can bust them out....sometimes. |

| Classic and to the point answer from TPC. How long have u been playing DLW610? Live or online? Casino or home game? I have played a fair amount of micro stakes games, and if you play these or freerolls (especially) you must accept the fact that people will push with the strangest hands. If you want intelligent players that understand pot odds and respect bets and wont push with trash, you need to avoid micro stakes and freerolls. Or adjust your game and be happy so many idiots play like...uhh... well... idiots. |

In which case, I offer the following serious answers to the question "why do people do these things": 1 - Because it works for a while, especially in games with weak-tight players 2 - For the lulz 3 - Because they don't know how to play any different 4 - Because they've heard loads of professional players recommend a similar strategy or seen them employ it on TV 5 - For more lulz 6 - Because it's a freeroll, and therefore #2 or #5 Welcome to CC dlw610 |

( I am assuming you are directing this statement at idiots who go all in with 2 4 os and such..., which most players here will tend to avoid, unless its me and I am playing - sigh, again - after drinking) |
