Who'd you like as your personal "guide"? I was looking at some of the pro poker players, and I started to think: "Who's my favorite? Do I have several favorites in the different categories?" Well, my answer must be "yes" to that last question. I got a favorite in most categories like MTT, PLO cash, NLHE cash and so on. Here a list with my favorites MTT - Chris Ferguson PLO - Patrik Antonius / Robert Williamson III / Chris Ferguson (because of the MTT) NLHE - Patrik Antonius (as well) / Phil Gordon / Liv Boeree (she's fine!) / Gus Hansen (because he's danish) / Chris Ferguson (because of the MTT) Overall I only got 2 favorites, the 2 that's most common. Chris Ferguson and Patrik Antonius Who are your favorites?

Well, if you just mean who is my favorite celebrity poker player I'd probably go with Negraneau because he is personable on tv or Ivey because, well...he's Ivey. However, I initially took your post title to imply who would I like to be guided or coached by if I could pick anyone. In that case, if I could afford them and they were available I would pick someone like Dusty Schmidt or Andrew "Baluga Whale" Seidman. Fortunately both of these guys have made some great videos. I saw some of Dusty's old stuff on the stox site and he does a great job of explaining things. I'm sure his DTB material is excellent also. I have been watching Baluga Whale's videos on Deuces Cracked recently and his way of explaining concepts really clicked with me. I was able to take things from his series and imediately use them in my next session. Of course he has also done a lot of writing on that other poker forum. Anyways, Dusty or the whale would be my choice for a "guide".

Well if I could choose anyone to be a guide for me and get insight into how they play and why they make the decisions they do then I would have to go with Tom Dwan or Phil Ivey. IMO those are the top 2 players in the world at this point and I would have the most to learn from them. As far as personality and just hanging I'd go with Daniel or Gus Hansen as they both seem pretty laid back and like decent people.

My first post is of course a "hint" to who I'd like as a "guide" I can't really decide who I'd choose Chris or Patrik. I think it'd be Chris for tournement poker and Patrik for cash games. I thought you'd figure that out from what I wrote as the title Sorry for any misunderstandings! Regards!

re: Who'd you like as your personal "guide"? poker I'd say Chris Ferguson, Daniel Negraneu, Howard Lederer, Allen Cunningham. All three seem like very nice individuals and approachable, they also seem like they play very strategically, thoughtfully, and I've rarely seen any of them lose their cool. I'd avoid the Hellmeuths, Dwans, and Matusows of poker. And of course I'm sure everyone would jump at a chance to get trained by Johnny Chan.

My 2 pros at this point . Number 1: Daniel Negreanu Number 2: Phil Ivey Nr1 because in my opinion he's the #1 pro at this moment! And Ivey because as you all said hes Ivey and he has great skills and knows how to handle hard situations with no problem.

For me it's a combo of Phil Ivey, Phill Galfond and Daniel Cates (Jungleman12), the best cash game players out there atm. Durr too I suppose but I feel I'd learn best from a Galfond type. Moorman defo for tournaments though I don't have much interest in them and Patrick is pretty sick at PLO. |
