They're physicists. Hubble is the guy they named the space telescope (a telescope placed on a satellite) after, you may have heard of it.

Stephen Hawkings is known mostly for being one of the people who "came up" with black holes. He did a lot more, but it's not fair to say that he predicted them (that was Einstein, implicitly) and he also did not coin the phrase - but he was prominent in understanding what exactly a black hole was and how it works.

Im guessing Stephen Hawking would win more often as he's still alive

Plus he has probably got a 'rigged' button on his computer/chair

I've always had a soft spot for physics (especially relativity and astronomy).

For those interested in some popular-science type modern physics, I recommend Hawkings' book, "A Brief History of Time." It's well written, in an accessible style, and shows just how cool physics really is.

With the exception of Hawkings, the others would probably consider themselves astronomers.

thus the tie in with poker STARS!.

Hubble was hired as a janitor.

Point taken, even if I consider astronomy a branch of physics. And Galileo would probably just have referred to himself as a "scientist".
