| Where do your profits come from? Bad players? Is making money in poker (mainly cash) about preying on very weak players? I find I only make large amounts from maniacs or calling station. While on tight tables, it's pretty hard to earn a much or stray from losing money. I'm still new, but do many of you just make money off maniacs and calling stations, or make small profits from solid players that simply add up? |

| re: Where do your profits come from? Bad players? poker I find that I make most profits when playing in the early hours of the morning over a weekend when everyone has come back from their "jol" (a SA word for a night on the town) and had too much to drink and all the cards look great to them. |

| Some of my biggest profits come from the players who, at first glance, seem to not be fish. They have the basic stats of a tight-aggressive player, but they simply cannot fold a big hand. They'll gladly stack off with QQ on a K-high board, or call an all-in on the river after their AA has been drawn out on. And about 50% of these players feel the need to slowplay every single hand. These players are almost as good to have at the table as ATMs. I know because at times I've been this player, and it's more costly than being a calling station. |

| i also talked about this on another thread, but I'll make a slight change. The perfect combination of a 6-handed cash table is one aggro donk to your right- one nit to his right- two fish in the middle- and one nit to your left. how can this get any better, u steal everything while nits steal nothing and you get all the juicy pots from the lovely aggro donk and the fish. |

| It really just depends on how good you are. If you're a great player, you don't need fish at the table, just a player or two who is merely good. If you're a good player, than you need a player or two who is merely decent. Of course, I suppose to the great players, the good players are fish. KC |

| In my opinion of playing online your profits are hardly comming from bad players because the are so busy sucking out on you for that to be the case. The profits come mainly from luck, but not the luck you think of initally but a different luck. The luck im talking about is the luck that others have a great hand aswell but just not better than yours. Thats the only way to truly make a profit in poker. Quote:

What I'm looking for in a fish is someone with a VPIP over 30, and a low PFR stat. There may very well be disguised fish that have normal stats, but for the fish I'm looking for, there's not one at every table. Most though. |

Also, the high stakes donkey tends to be mostly the agressive donkey, while at lower stakes, you are more likely to find lots of passive donkeys, calling stations & sheep. |

| I opinion should be the same as far as the general outcome of pots with most players online. Being that the bigger the stakes, the more money to win, also, the big wins come from big hands. Donks do their thing every once in awhile but they are not as consistant as the typical play. |
