Whens The Best Time To Play Poker? I recently read in a magazine that if you choose when you play poker you can be more successful. Im in two minds about this one so anybody got any opinions or stats that it is actually better to play at a certain time of day? Anybody suggest when the best time to play is (when there are most donks kicking about) ??

late night, early hours of the morning for the players at the table(just in case you are in a different timezone), Im only remembering what I read somewhere, but if its after midnight for a player, and he's had a few beers in the evening, and maybe lost a buy-in/mtt or two, he's looking for one last hand to recuperate his losses, so he's a lot more looser, and maybe off his A game. But also, in the mornings/early afternoon, a lot of new people to poker seem to play then, bringing the minimum to the table, to try it out, they are just ripe for picking. As for yourself, dont do it when you're tired, drunk, etc, unless you wanna lose/win big(huge variance!)

I find it that the best time to play on Full Tilt is during the "Happy Hour" so many donks out trying to get some extra points and yet there are so many sharks out ready to eat them alive, lol. And also like KD mentioned definitely at night, you will have few people tilting by then drinking their beer and playing few hands before they go to bed, also you don't have to worry as much about the people who play for a living, since most of them are finish up a tourney they are deep in and going to bed.

re: Whens The Best Time To Play Poker? At any casino it is always Friday and Saturday nights. You get people that are not regular players and just went out for a good time, along with players who might play sober on a week night but drink enough to seriously hurt their game. I make it a point to play at least one of those nights every week and sometimes both. I definitely see a higher return on a Friday night than I do on a Tuesday in the middle of the day. Online, I'm not sure. But when I was playing the Jokerstars steps to the WSOP, I found that the play was much worse when the Euro-players were more likely to be playing. It's like the whole continent is full of over-aggressive shove-addicts. So evening in Europe, which is like afternoon here, was a great time to play on Jokerstars...but I only played the steps, so I don't know if that is true for other games on that site.

Something I have found absolutely easy money is playing HU cash late night weekends(if you are not too drunk that is). There are many players who are pissed they got a "bad beat" and want to tear up the HU game by being uber aggressive and end up getting all in with low pair or something on the turn. Most of these players are playing up in limits too I would imagine to recoup the bad beat money they donked away.

Sundays are by far the best days to make money if you dedicate that day to strictly poker like me. |

Purely anecdotal evidence, but my best profits occur weekday mornings. I wake up about the crack of 10 & play a couple SnG's to warm up, which I win about 7/10 times, then hit the cash tables. I usually run hot until 5 or 6. Weekend afternoons are good for me too. I think that I play my best against good players which is why this works for me. My worst luck is weekend evenings, when the donks are coming out of the woodwork. That's when all my bad beats happen & it seems the rooms turn into bingo parlors. I guess it all comes down to your game & who you match up well against.

While it may be true that there are more bad players on during certain times of the day or on certain days, the best time for you to play is when you can play your best. If you get tired at 10 PM, it's not good for your game to stay up till 2 AM playing poker just because there are more bad players on during that time. If your house is a crazy place full of distractions on Sunday afternoon don't try to play on Sunday afternoon. Give yourself the opportunity to play great poker and you'll find worse players day or night and on everyday of the week.
