| Gamble with only 1% of your poker account money, so you can play longer. If you get the urges, than you will still have plenty of money to play with. Never chase your lost money when you lose and the cheapest way to improve your game is to play freerolls. Freerolls will help you gain a lot of patiences. Hope these little advices help. |

| re: when to stop gambling poker If you're talking about individual sessions, I useed to have this problem as well. If I started-off winning, great, I'd play my normal session. If I started-off losing though, I'd play marathon sessions trying to get back to even. My game is 100% better now that I set time limits for my sessions and I stop at a pre-specified time whether I'm winning or losing. No more playing for 10-12 hours straight chasing my losses and inevitably getting further and further stuck. |

I used to have this problem as well. Lost alot of money chasing when I was down. Now I have a better plan with time limits for my sessions as well. But to get back onto the topic of the thread starter: It sounds as if he has a bad gambling problem and may want to stop playing altogether or get some kind of professional help. Possibly a short term fix would be to let the site cut him off as someone else suggested. I just dont like that option because if you cant tell when to quit then you probably shouldn't be playing. |

I have an addictive nature and love a good gamble. Horses/Dogs/Football/Boxing, or anything really. Don't get me wrong, I still try learning as much as I can about the game to improve my chances on winning but at the end of the day, where there are odds there is always a gamble, poker included! To OP, get the admins to restrict your depositing amounts. |

| The good news is that you admit your challenge. Trial and error may be the answer as oppossed to cold turkey....No one likes to do cold turkey with anything....But.....short of that.....try controlling the surroundings you control.....Put your self on a time limit, say an hour, or 1 or two SNG's, or a number of hands. When that threshold is met, stop.....win-loose-draw...just stop.....that way you have had the chance to play, to get your fix, and in that aspect you have won.....You have shown discipline, control, and a good feeling about yourself. IMO I think I would try that first as oppossed to cold turkey.........Only you know what is best for you. Good luck in your endevors. |

| Biggest mystake imo is playing when you are tired and as big_rudy said putting a time on your sessions helps alot. Only thing is....you have to respect what limits you set for yourself and in your case....doesnt sound like you have alot of willpower. |
