| There are very few instances when it's OK to fold K/K. The odds of getting someone having A/A when you have K/K is about 220/1. That is, there is less than a half-percent chance. It would take a massive read to figure out that someone had A/A. In a ring game it's almost never appropriate. Maybe if you see two rocks making big moves against each other you can get away from that hand, but otherwise no. In a tournament setting, you might fold if you're a micro stack, on the bubble, and several big stacks seem to be duking it out. Now, post flop, running into aces sucks. They call K/K "Ace Magnets" for a reason. I'll usually make a continuation bet if I'm first to act, but fold to any challenge (because I should have bet enough early that I'm not going to be called by a hand that I can now beat). |

| re: when to fold kings preflop poker The adage of NEVER folding KK pre-flop is really incorrect. Lets forget about the bubble/sat bubble/final table situations. Folding any hand preflop except for AA always must come into context. Folding KK preflop when your 20bb deep is obviously a big no no. Personally if i was 500bb deep i'd almost never play for stacks with KK preflop. Its just a matter of finding the cutoff point. |

Wouldn't that be if you were heads up? At a full table (9 players) wouldn't the odds of someone having AA when you have KK be 9 times more likely? Edit: As for folding KK preflop, i cant see myself doing it unless the stacks were really really deep. |

| You have to make sure the game your playing is with really good players, where money matters, and they won't raise all in with 10 3 and crap like that. Also, you'd really have to feel like your playing good to be sure on a read of AA. |
