When do you leave?

I decided to play a couple of cash games and seriously I usually always do fairly well in them but have no clue what I'm doing with my BR, and when to leave. I went into 2 cash tables at Tilt tonight with stick and skold, and the first thing I realized is when the hell is break I'm so use to sng's and Mtt's.

I'm so untrained for this, but really feel I have the potential of being a good ring player.

I don't even know where to start.

Here is a couple of examples of what I did tonight it even scares me

Apparently I'm a tight ass player.

Never go all in with Jacks...they'll just hook you in for trouble. If you were QQ against KK or AA I's understand, but never JJ...it's a demon hand, pretends to be strong but really is very weak, to me JJ is the same as 22. Look never play more than 5% of you bankroll, so with 300
I would stick to the low limit tables like 25-50c or even 5-10c, but only shorthanded ones, otherwise it's harder to catch a good hand and win or get an average hand like J9 and utilise it successfully. I would just ply Heads Up SnG's, but they're my specialty.

This has to be a joke.

Anyway, Im not much of a cash game player but I believe the best time to leave is when one of the following happens:
-Theres not enough money on the table to make it worth staying.
-The game has become too difficult for you to beat
-You're tired and cant concentrate on your game. You're not playing your best.

When you're not playing well. You won some money and then you lost it by being as it seems overconfident. Was the player with queens tight, loose or what? You need to think about what the player would go-all in with and what chances you have of outdrawing him if you are wrong.

If the game is good and you figure there are many bad players at the table that you can make money then you should definately stay.

Semi-Joke, but I still never go all in with JJ!

KONAN11: My Bad My notes say on him, Sneaky and waiting to pounce..lol I mean TIGHT

Your right I got over confident because I was sitting with 40$ more then the rest

So he was tight, and betting hard, what do you think I put him on? PP but I was thinking along more of the lines of 99, 88, or 77, the flop was small, I had an overpair.

Perhaps this was the problem

KONAN11 bets $5.50
Aloevera raises to $11
KONAN11 raises to $26.30, and is all in
Aloevera calls $15.30

Try this. Pick a percentage like 5% or 10%. When you have increased your bankroll by that much leave. By doing this your gone before they can figure your game out.
Hit and split...................

I agree with this, but I'd also add the following:

-When you've made enough money (set a goal of how much you want to profit). It's hard to leave a table when you're running good, but if you stay too long, it's easy to give at least part of your profit back to the table.
-When you've lost enough money (set an amount you're willing to lose and when you hit that amount leave - never get into the mind set that you need to "make back your money").

You're a solid player. Cash games are a different animal all together than MTTs, but you have the skills to succeed - all you need now is the patience to develop your ring game skills.

*** RIVER *** [2d 6s As 7d] K♥
Aloevera shows two pair, Aces and Kings
MrsPauls shows two pair, Aces and Sixes

I'm MrsPauls and this hand hurt. It was my 1st (and only) at the table. 2 people with AK give me a cheap look (why no reraise?) with a suited A that flops 2 pair. When the $$ go in I'm WAY ahead (83% to win) and then the river pairs the K. I closed FT and went to bed. The best part is that I knew it would be posted here today.

I disagree with setting caps on winnings. If it gets to the point where your putting your BR at risk, then leave and find another table. But in terms of quitting/continuing to play yourself (as in you can join another table but still keep up the session, just reducing the risk) you should play until you have something else to do or need to stop for some other reason or you should stop when you feel you're not playing well for whatever reason. Poker's a tough enough game even when you're on top of your game. You don't want to be messing around with any less, although I guess when you get rivers like the AK hand it doesn't matter .

Aloe, if you're feeling like it's time for a break, maybe it's time to leave the table, or just sit out for a while. It might be a good time to re-evaluate your tables and determine which ones might have stronger players and you can drop it and pick up a more profitable one, or which ones have players playing styles that you have difficulty with and drop those.

This is one of those questions we all have to answer for ourselves.

I play both low level STT and .10/.25 NL cash games, getting ready to move up to .25/.50. My buyin is for less than the max. It's small enough so that if I lose it, it's not a big deal. When I double it up, give or take, I take my money off the table and start over. If I have trouble making headway on the table, I get up and start over.

Am I missing the opportunity to build my stack by hitting a good streak? Absolutely! Am I eliminating the chance of losing a big stack on a bad beat or a terrible play? Absolutely!

This allows me to consistently win without the big swings. I don't have to decide when to leave the table. I'ts pretty much automatic. This is what works for me.

You need to find what works for you.

After my session just now I suggest you take timeouts every time these things happen:

You win a large pot
You lose a large pot
You make a successful big bluff
You get bluffed out
You catch a large bluff

All of these can lead to tilt and overconfidence, both of which can weigh heavily on your stack (and if you're particularly out of control: Your br)

Other than that play till you don't feel like playing anymore like everyone else said.

OUCH

If I'm not the one doing the raising. I want to see a flop for as cheap as possible. It's a totally different style of play to sit at cash tables and it can eat your money fast so I play cautious as I don't think I know what I'm doing. I got lucky in that hand I don't know how I called that never mind reraise it.

Thx for all your responses, lots of great points, we all have to learn somewhere

i only leave the table when im broke
what i like to do is, when i end up getting tired, when i start making questionable plays, when start losing consentration, i break for atleast 5 to 10 minutes or i leave the table and regain focus and concentration and refresh

I leave the table when all of the donkeys that I am trying to get money from leave. I don't care if I am up 3 buy ins at a table or down 5 as long as there is still people that I KNOW I can get money off of I'll stay.

When I do decide to stop playing its just because I'm bored and I don't really feel like it anymore. No time limits or anything, it's just a feeling thing.
