| What is the value of play chip winnings? If you have success playing play chip SnGs, can you use this as a gauge for evaluating your ability or growth as a poker player? I'm talking about SnG where there is a 10,000 chip buyin. I have been having success with these play money SnG to build a play chip bankroll to enter real money tournaments with huge amounts on play chips. My question is am I still getting lucky with donks? Or do these consistent winnings indicate that i've been playing good poker? |

| people say that the high-buy-in play games are about as good if not better than the micro-limits, so you are probably doing most things right. also, you should look up the possibility of selling your play money for real cash. they are not worth a lot, of course, but it is more than nothing, and since you have accumulated them anyway, why not just sell them to someone? this is a good way to start an online bankroll, or to boost it a little in case you plan to deposit anyway. good luck! |

| playing play chips no matter how much the buy in is equivilent to 2nl (1-2c) make a deposit and start winning some real money. do yourself that favor. theres money to be made and if your smashing the play chips then you should do OK at 2nl. when playing play money you can develope bad habits, and even at 2nl its different then playing play money. yes you still get the occasional complete spewy donkey but most of them are really just fish. they always go to the river. anyways you should just make a ten dollar deposit and try it. i have a 150 br built from 5 dollars a friend gave me. 2nl is easy money. anyways have a good 1 |

| re: What is the value of play chip winnings? poker I used to take first at ~40% of higher play money one table sngos. When I switched to $5 stts I was down 10+ buyins right away. There's an adjustment to make, but if you are crushing the higher playmoney you will soon be a winning microstakes player atleast. Might take some work to be a winner at stakes higher than that... |

I did play chips for a while and although it's fun and you learn some aspects of the game, it doesn't pose the same challenges are real money. People simply don't make decisions the same way for play chips as they do for money, even if it is just 1c/2c. That said, there's no reason to think if you're beating play chips that you couldn't beat 1c/2c. Most important, enjoy the game, no matter what level you try. |

High stakes tournaments play similar to CC freerolls and 2 + .25 buyins |
