What size of a bankroll do you all reccomend?

Okay I haven't been playing seriously online, but I plan to start getting serious, but I need help as to how big of a roll do I need to be able to play at the 20-50 buy in trnys? I ain't sure should it be 1K, 1,500, or 2K, or even more? I plan to save up to a reasonable amount to put on Pokerstars to play at those buy ins because I believe I am fully capable of playing at that high and I believe I can make a nice profit on it.

Please leave some advice, thank you all in advance.

Do not put more than 5% in a buy in. Read the Ferguson article. $1,000 would do the trick.

actually it's 2% for tournaments and 5% for ring games. so for a $50.00 buy in you'd need a bankroll of at least $2 500.00.

100 x the buy-in, imo. But I'm a nit. And I suck at ring.

For MTTs, 50x the buyin. Ie. $1k for $20 tourneys or $2500 for the $50.

I am mainly a MTT player, and I have an online bankroll of over $6k currently, so am rolled to play the $109 buyins.

However, like AG, I am very cautious about such things. I think you will find that most successful players are very protective of their BR. So, you will usually find me in the $20 tourneys, and I don`t often play the bigger games unless I have had a recent win and feel happy to splash out a bit from my winnings.

can someone post the link to the 'Ferguson' article?

assuming it's Chris rather than Alex?
