Somewhere between 1 and 2. Sitting at a loose table where you're getting good cards, but they just don't hold up. But I decided the second option was the closest to it: I much prefer getting rubbish hands, because that's nowhere near as expensive.

Ohhh number 2 is WAY too fresh in my mind from last Monday nights game. Flopped the nut straight with AQ, only to see the ace on the turn and a Q on the river. Sickened, id managed to get a set of 10's all in as well. BOO !!!

All of the above are very frustrating indeed, but what frustrates me most is a drunk at the table who does not know what hes doing, and is agressive with it. A big hate of mine.

I'm beginning to be able to handle the good ol' bad beat & suck out. What actually makes me still want to cry is when I hold a mediocre 2 cards and the low one comes on the flop to make a weak pair with 2 overcards on board. I fold correctly against heavy raising just to see 2 more of my hole cards come up on the turn & river. Blanks to everyone else, but a full house to me that could have doubled my stack. To sum up: BAD LAYDOWNS! (Similar stuff happens to me about once or twice a day.)

Getting your blinds pillaged when you can't fight back as you're holding rags, then when you make your move you run into AA.At least once a day that happens

This is an amazing thread. All 4 of the choices make my stomach turn.
* Dennis laughs at Tenbob's humor.
I'm usually the drunk at the table, but I don't get aggressive. I don't pay as much attention as I should when I'm lit.
Back to the poll question at hand. All 4 are great and I voted for #2, but I think #3 should have been my pick. Pure heartbreak to see the blind robing idiot actually have something better when you get the cards to call.

I think that you should be happy that you have the knowledge and experience to be able to make those folds. That IS NOT A BAD LAY DOWN. In my opinion this play is THE RIGHT play in which you lost a small number of chips when AFTER THE FACT you know you would have won a large number of chips. But hindsight is 20/20, so what you need to remember is that you should not be wagering any amount to see the turn and river unless you think you can outplay your opponent if you feel he/she has not hit the board, or you really think your hand might improve. Of course both of these things are feelings you get from observing your player, knowing your player and making a decision. That does not make the decision correct, but sometimes for a runner runner full house ; Lucky?
It may be better to be lucky than good as irish dave points out in his signature, but at least you will hold on to those chips when you make the right play and that runner runner doesnt show up....

Just thought of a great example

[quote=MrSticker]could have doubled my stack. To sum up: BAD LAYDOWNS! [quote]

i just got a scenario where i may not have made the right play but boy o boy did I get lucky. This happened last night. I was in Late position and i got 2-2 (need i say offsuite, lol). SO with only two callers and the sb and bb right next to me, I made a 2x bb raise. I actually achieved exactly what i wanted: sb-folds bb-folds and i get two callers. So a five handed hand down to three now, An important thing is that I have been playing only 15-20 % of all hands dealt, very conservative. So 6-2-2 comes out on the flop. Now I obviously won this hand so since the hand is not the pioint ill just say that one player took it down to the end with me to showdown and I never put him all-in and he never bluffed all in. The point is, on a hand to hand basis we try to make the best decisions we can with the way other players are representing their cards, and what our cards are. I could have said: two previous callers, still sb and bb out there can have anything, and folded. But i have to remember how they view me, and NO ONE thought i had even one 2 in my hand at that point. So did I make the right play? well in hind sight yes but I could not have said " oh what a stupid play, why did I lay that down " if I decideded to fold to a potential 5 handed hand with a mere pocket 2's. THe way it worked out, i was happy that I at least saw the flop.... and what i hope some people take from this is, we make decicions for a reason. look at your decisions, look at your reasons and if they were both good, dont beat yourself up just because it didnt work out the way you thought it would; or should have, because after all its poker, maybe it just (was ?) wasnt in the cards.

In a tournement having someone go all-in when you have hit a set and then after calling watch the board show one by a very slow one either a straight or a flush

Of course your stack is fatally crippled and you fade into the background as Mr All-in goes on with YOUR chips to collect a nice little pay day Grrrrrrr.

I think the worst and most frustrating feeling occurs is this situation:

Board: Ac, Ah, Kc, Jc, 10c,

You have : As, Ad,

Opponent has: Qc, Ks,

I hate watching inexperienced players clean the table out. they just call and call and call, and win, win, win. Seeing a very bad passive player run over the game is just horrible to me. Because they always milk the fish.

This happened to me 3 times just yesterday.
Think about Grum's comment. I think this is one that was left off the list. You make final table and have to pee so bad your back teeth are floating. Now add the fact your short stacked.
