What's the dumbest poker move you've ever made?
I check raised all-in bluffing against a made royal flush...
On the flop I said to myself, this guy is playing like he has a royal, On the turn I said to mysel again, this guy is playing like he has a royal, so Im gonna check raise him on the river and steal this thing... When the river came, I check, and just as I had anticipated he bets... I PUSH, he says "Man, I have to call you, I have a royal flush" DOOH!!!! I beleive I already win, but if someone has done something even more stupid, I'd love to hear about it! -Bill |

Mine is an all-time great and I did it in a CC event so I'll never be able to hide it. It was during our first HORSE event on Fulltilt. We were playing Razz and I thought it was stud high so I kept pushing my full house. My good friend Dook was exceedingly happy about this one as he was the recipient of the best donk of my life...

on Tuesday i was in 2nd place in the big buck on paradise and only 51 players left, off big blind all the hands had been folded to the small blind and he raised me 3 times the big blind. I thought OK he's trying to steal my blind so for some reason i went all in expecting him to fold i knew he had to have a great hand to be able to call but then it came he turned over Ac/9c to my As/5s all low cards hit and he got his 9 and that was it. Never made a mistake all night and I'm still asking myself why did i do that even now.

Today
well saturday, freeroll tourney 2 people out of the 9 that were at my table as well as pretty much the entire tourney were sitting out so its was like heads up I thought 99% we will compete for the blinds so I went all in a few times with great starting hands and took the blinds then one hand the guy who was playing me folded so I went all in with my 35 off suit to take the sitters blind as I was raising the meter to go all in I did't notice the BB sat in to play and he called and turned over his kings and won left me with 120 which didn't last long and then I went to check out the other tables and I was stumped only 3 players max out of the nine at each table were playing the rest were sitting out.

Well I have done quite of few dumb dumb moves.. I remember my most recent one..I get up while playing a sit and go. I come back and notice that there is only 1 guy left at the table and every else folds. I say cool I will check.. Without paying attention to anything else, I called an all-in(Explains why there was only 1 person in the hand). The second I had done this I have
2,7 off suit in my hand. It was up against pocket AA's.. now what makes this move worst is that it won because I got 2 pair. The guy didn't rant or rave.. a few others said "2,7?".. I said I was lucky and then said bet you won't believe that call was a mistake? |

Twizzy that's like the coolest thing ever. Fear the Beer hand! u ever here of a casino giving $1000 to any1 who takes out pocket aces? I think if u take them out with a 2/7 in holdem' you should get double that!

He had around 960 in chips I was doing fairly well with 1765 in chips.. The other person didn't say a word or anything... Surprised me that he didn't.
I would have fully understood if he did cause there really is no explanation besides that I wasn't paying attention. It is a hand that I know I will never forget. |

Here's a gem I managed recently at a live tourney:
Me and this younger kid were probably top 2 in chips about 45 minutes into the tourney. He raised to like 300 preflop and I called with AJo. Flop was J 7 2. Kid bets 500, I raise to 1500. He calls. 4 on the turn. He checks. I bet 2000, he goes all in and I call immediately. He flips over Ad9d. I tell him he's in big trouble and show him the AJ... I totally didn't see the fact that there were 2 diamonds on the flop and the 4d on the turn gave him the nut flush. I felt like such an amateur. |

My worst move...
And this is something that I seem to do over and over again, is not respecting an opponent's play. If someone has been loose, and in my mind I peg him as a loose/aggressive player, I find myself not giving him/her credit for their cards. If there is a flush or straight possibility on the table, I ignore it and re-raise big with two pair. If a scare card hits, I assume the person is "portraying" the scare card. This is not stuff that I normally do with regular folks, but sometimes I am stubborn about that I label other players at the table.
Anyway, to answer the question directly, same old story: half-way through a low-stakes tournament, I have a slightly above-average chip stack, and a player who I have labelled as borderline-maniacal calls all-in post-flop with T96 rainbow falling blow. I'm holding AT and I've watched this guy go all-in 3 times in the last 10 hands or so, so I call. He turns over 87s and I am done. |

I've probably done stupider things when I was new to the game (for the first week or so I thought QKA23 was a straight), but this is the stupidest thing I've done in recent memory.
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (5 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx Hero (t1580) Button (t1780) SB (t1765) BB (t895) UTG (t2980) Preflop: Hero is MP with Kh, Kc. UTG calls t50, Hero raises to t200, 2 folds, BB calls t150, UTG calls t150. Flop: (t625) Jc, 4d, Th (3 players) BB bets t695 (All-In), UTG calls t695, Hero folds. Turn: (t2015) Tc (2 players, 1 all-in) River: (t2015) 7s (2 players, 1 all-in) Final Pot: t2015 |

Well it's not the dumbest I've ever done but it's the only one I can remember right now.....happened at our "loyal" Ultimatebet tourney. Went all-in with QQ vs. JuiceeQ . Not that QQ is a bad hand but after she reraised me, I said to myself "Self, she has a monster...QQ isn't the best hand" then of course I tell her... "let's go, I think I'm the dog" (knowing I was the dog). Well just like I figured she flips KK over on me and I don't improve my hand. That is the DUMBEST because I KNEW and STILL CALLED/RAISED. My only consolation is that she won the thing, but I know my contribution helped her a lot.

I have to say my most RECENT "DOH" moment was yesterday at the the freeroll(okay I had 2)
I was 1st and 2nd for awhile yesterday and had around 7000 chips pretty early on. I had 47spades in my BB and I called a 1x BB raises thinking maybe this person was trying to get me off my Blind. Flop came Q58 I think there were 2 spades amongst that. SB goes all in for 230 I called and someone else that was in the hand reraised it to over 1000 like a donk I called it Pfffft. ::::::::::banging head::::::::: I didn't fill in my flush or my gut shot draw. Guy that reraised had pocket Kings. Second time I had pocket 10s late on another table and I raised 3 times the BB someone called my raised. flop comes Axx guy calls himself all in I call "DOH" of course he's holding Ace rag.........I get no help and I am very short stacked after that. Oh well. You would think I would learn...........maybe someday. |

It happened just the other night. I was multi-tasking. Playing 4 games at the same time. One of then was a buyin, the other 3 were freerolls. I wanted to clear one of the freerolls so I could focus on the buyin. OOPS. I allined on the buyin by mistake, lol, with 93,lmao.

Stupidest move I make is playing freerolls expecting at least 3 or 4 people to play correctly.
Instead I still see the people with 9J offsuit call my all in with an Ace on the board. And of course it benefits the moron because a 9 hits on the river to give him trips. 'Why should I fold it doesn't cost me real money or anything' ... the losers anthem |

I think you made the right move fella, 10-10 isnt the 3rd best starting hand, it's worse than AA, KK, QQ, AK, JJ... just because the flop came quad 10's doesnt mean the fold was bad. You were in last place pre-flop so folding was correct ( especially with the aggresive all-in 3 way action)
My worst move was in a live tourney in my local casino, had KQ, flop came A Q 10, Turn was the J, i was so busy looking a K or Q to come i missed the Nut straight. When the river came a 4 and he bet i mucked my cards face up. After my opponent explain he also had KQ and that was in fact the NUTS i sculked of to the toilets for 10 mins - God my face was read. Was a good lesson to learn, never done that again. |

Omaha Hi-Lo SnG on CDpoker yesterday. I've flopped the nut straight, and a good low hand (good in the context of this game where ANY low hand is called to the end). However there are 2 clubs on board, and having been rivered twice already by flushes, I dont want to let opponents in. So rather than put in a half decent bet which will be called by all the chasers (i.e all the remaining opponents!) and build up a nice big pot to scoop, I put in the maximum pot size bet. One by one they all fold - I then see that I'VE got 2 clubs - a 6 and ..................... the ACE! So i was betting to shut out myself! ![]() |

Playing an Omaha Hi Lo head to head - 10th hand I hit a Full House and win big pot against 2 pair - up 2,700 to 300. 2 hands later I flop the nut low. Pump the money in hoping he'll either fold or i'll catch straight. No help, so split pot....only, it wasn't - it wasn't Hi-Lo at all, just normal High, took me 12 hands to realise! Still won!

How about this one... Final table of a large Omaha H/L freeroll sitting in 2nd place. Multi-tabling so when my turn to play comes up, I quickly scan the table and see the wee stack to my right is all in without enough to dent me. I go all in without realizing the the chip leader across the table had already gone all in and I just called with rather crappy cards. Out in 8th when I could have easily made top 3. Okay maybe not the worst play mentioned so far but I was sure mad at myself at that moment.

I don't think I've played H/L and not realised it was H/L, but I've certainly joined an Omaha table and got annoyed when I didn't win a part of the pot with nut low...
The thing is, you can survive a lot longer playing Omaha High/Low with just High hands, because you'll often fold when low cards hit, and because most players are playing first for nut low, and then looking for high, so playing a High hand will often get the split at least. You start calling all kinds of stuff with a Low in High-only, you'll come unstuck much faster... but I think everyone who plays Omaha and H/L regularly has done it at some point, just as all starting Omaha players have probably bet with the Nut Flush or Full House before realising they can only use 2 of their cards and they have no such hand. |

I was in an online tournament and got KhQh. I was fairly late position, and there were only two callers, no raises. I pushed the wrong button and folded. The small blind folded, and the big blind checked. The flop was AhJhTh! I had folded a royal. One guy went all in, two guys called, and one of them won with trip Ts.
