What percentage of players win long term?

Just wondering the % of poker players that make a profit long term. I assume it's the vast majority. And any evidence to back it up would be great!

Depending on how you define long-term but 10% maybe.

7-10 years ago, probably 80% lol.

Now, about 7%

There are hundreds of thousands & maybe millions more poker players now then there was 7-10 years ago. Back then, there was a higher % of "good" or "profitable" players compared to now.

My experience over the past 20 years playing is that the longer time frame you push out, the less people who profit long-term. Even back in the old days of the 80s (lol), it was accepted that 90% of poker players were long-term losers

??? I can't get my head around this. Or how someone could imagine how this could be.

How would the "vast majority" of players make profits long term? The site/casino takes a cut, meaning the minority are losing enough to make the site/casino plus the vast majority winners? Or is the government funding it somewhere that I don't know about?

The vast majority lose long term, not win. Simple economics.
