What are the most important HUD stats?

I'm experimenting with Realtime HUD, and because I'm still a poker rookie, I want to limit the amount of information immediately visible on the screen - i.e. I can always click to view more. Basically, I want to be able to recognize Phil Hellmuth's "animal types" quickly:

Mouse: tight & passive
Lion: tight & aggressive
Elephant: loose & passive
Jackal: loose & aggressive

Which stats would I need for this?

Yes, I've read those threads, but I prefer less information to begin with. It's not like I have the expertise to put it all to good use anyway.

Just use VPIP, PFR and Aggression Factor, then. it's the default numbers we use when we discuss villains.

Tight or loose is given to you by the vpip number.

Preflop aggressive or passive is given to you by the difference between vpip and pfr

Postflop aggressive or passive is given to you by the aggression factor.

OK, I'm trying to determine my color ranges, so I have a few more questions:

1) Does VP$IP correspond to the % of starting hands played?

If so, what % would be very tight / tight / loose / very loose?

2) What does the aggression factor represent? I mean, how is the 'number' to be interpreted?

About colors, the best is for you to play for a while and figure out your own stats, then color code people who play much looser, much tighter or about the same as you do.

aggression factor is the ratio of number of time he bets or raises to the number of time he calls. Once again, compare that to your own stat to figure out other players.

One question I have: Are these statistics only gathered from the hands that you play with the table, or what? How long would you consider to be an adequate sampling before those stats are good?

At pokerstars you have to be playing, at FTP you can data mine. Or at least you used to be able to. I am sure you still can.

VPIP/PFR/AF converge pretty quickly. Obviously the more hands you have the better but after 100 hands it is pretty close, at least in my experience.

It is a lot of the post flop stats that take a LOT of hands to converge because as you can imagine a villian will only be faced with a check raise in 3bet pot so often (extreme example for illustration )
