| What if every poker player was a pro? So I recently started a new thread asking one question, why do pros who play high stakes, at least in full tilt, play mostly PLO? Someone replied, because there is more gamble and more action, also because those pros are very good NLHE players, so its not as fun as PLO. This raises another question i've been asking myself, purely hypothetical: what if everyone that played poker was a pro. By that I mean, everybody plays a real solid game, makes very few mistakes, takes advantage of other player's mistakes, knows the theory behing poker, has great analytical skills, etc, etc... this implies there are no fish in the game (whatever form of poker it is, holdem, omaha, stud...). So, would something happen to the game? would there still be cash for players to earn, besides each other's? For example, Player 1 wins 200k from Player 2; Player 2 wins 300k from Player 3; Player 3 wins 100k from Player 5, then Player 1 wins 250k from Player 5, and so forth. And if everyone is a pro, would cash flow would remain stagnant because there are no fish to keep the flow going? (supposing that all money income from pro's comes from poker, not any business deals, endorsements, etc.) Hope you reply. |

| In theory, everyone at the high stakes could be equally skilled, but the low stakes fish lose their money to the low stakes regulars, who then move up to mid stakes and lose their money, the mid stakes winners move up to high stakes and lose, and the high stakes players pass it around. Thus the micro donks support everything equaling profit at the top. |

As for the opening thats just looney thinking... I mean really though think about it its like saying what if every major league baseball player was as good a hitter as Albert Pujols, every NBA player was as good as Lebron James, and every football player was as good as a Peyton Manning or a Ray Lewis. Just not really a smart answer to the question if you ask me. But someone is also still going to do better than the others for instance some pros make more than others |

And if everyone were a 'pro', then nobody would be able to beat the rake... unless someone was way better at being pro than others. It depends on exactly what you mean by pro. Everyone would lose the way it seems you are imagining in the long run. |
