BTW, I dont think you're in any position to be calling anyone an 'idot'. You limp in with AQ preflop when you are super short-stacked, not the shortest at the table but compared to the blinds and antes...yeah. Why are you even limping here with your Mzone of 2.1? You call a bet on a missed flop with your short stack to try and catch a A or Q. If you miss, you're in world of hurt. The turn brings the Ace that you and your opponent hit. You're opponent bets out thinking he has the best hand since you've shown no strength PF with your hand. Of course you call and win. Your opponent even says 'G1' to you even though you completely misplayed the hand, IMO. And yet, you call him the 'idot'? Unless, you're talking about yourself...
ETA: it said 'idot' in the title before it was edited. Last edited by philthy : 31-05-2008 at 1:33 PM. |

So, blinds are at 1k/2k with 200 antes I assume. If its 9-handed, thats a 4800 pot right there. If you're sitting on a 12K stack with AQ, you definitely want to get all your chips in PF and go after that pot. If you can take it down, you increase you stack by 40%, which is a huge boost. The same could be said with your OP, you're stack was way to small to be limping in with. Shove it and take down that pot right there if you can, which would increase your stack by 45%. If you're lucky, you might get called by an inferior hand like A9, K10, J10, etc but even if that doesnt happen, the pot gives your stack a nice boost.
Another way to look at it is it's costing you 4800 of your stack to just play one rotation of the blinds. With a 12K stack, you have an M of about 2.5, which means you have about 2.5 rotations before you completely knock yourself out of the tournament at this current level. If blinds go up soon, then you have an even smaller M. At this range, you should be shoving all your top premium starting hands and stealing a lot more and just trying to build that stack. Mzone = Your Stack/Small Blind + Big Blind + (No. of players x antes) Try searching CC for SS tournament play and M-zone strategy/guide. |

Thanks for the good advise, like i said i still have a bit to learn, thats why i like this forum so much, the advice and strategies from good members like yourself are helping me a lot,on your remark about me being in no position to call the other guy an idiot,i guess idiot was a bit strong a word,it wasnt his all in bet i was criticising so much but his risking such a chunk of his stack when he coulda made a smaller bet and still gave him a decent pot if he won with less damage when he lost, and the real point being he was close to having enough chips to get through the bubble.incidently he crashed out a few hands before i did...
