| What was he doing, very odd play Ok so I am playing at a $20 nl table, have about $30 in front of me, and villian has about $25. nobody else in the hand, he is first to act. Hero Dealt 7hearts 8hearts Villian min raised to 40c Hero re raises to $1 Villian raises to $1.60 (i think) Hero Calls flop 7clubs, 3 spades, 8 clubs Villian checks Hero bets $3.20 Villian thinks, thinks, Raises to $6.40 Hero delays for a few seconds and raises all in. Villian delays for 10 seconds then calls Turn 4 spades River 10 Diamonds Right... what do we think the villian had? I put him on either Aces (some low stakes players love min raising pf with these) or more likely Ace trash of clubs scroll... ... Villian flips over Ace diamonds, 4 hearts Hero collects pot answers on a post card please........? |

| He had the best hand preflop, you re-raised with a 7-8 suited? All you just did was get lucky on the flop. I know it's small limits but I'd have folded after the initial raise, ask yourself why is it the min raise...b/c he was trying to trap. Why is it that when someone sees any suited connector they think they have a good hand? |

| re: What was he doing, very odd play poker Not a very smart play on his part, he musta been counting on aces, but why do people do that? I see people go all-in with nothing too much! Do they think everyone bluffs all the time? I definately woulda folded, quicklike! |

| Reraised and called a rereraise with 78? Yes that guy was stupid...in the end...but what were you doing in the pot? He could have had you crushed preflop with q's k's aces, or at least any 2 overcards (just lucky he only had what he had), you just got lucky on the flop. You would have been lucky enough to have seen 4 8 K or something on the flop, do you call his reraises you on the flop then? |

Just because the pros on tv do it is no reson you should, especially at limits TIS LOW, they do it because of implied odds, for this implied odds are no where near worth it. |

| Yea in general you dont want to 3-bet light until you are >100NL. Ppl at these stacks in general don't really care what you have...they are playing their hand. Not a good idea to go HU w/ SC vs this guy who was obviously going to play any hand to the death as you had to get very lucky. Pros do it to disguise their hands, because they play so often with one another and because of larger implied odds. It's hands like T7s that hit a flop that end up with large pots for the pros coz it is very well disguised preflop if raised/reraised etc. While sure you get better implied odds vs donks online coz some are willing to stack themselves for no reason, players like that you can stack after seeing a cheaper flop just as easy as trying to isolate etc. Besides with 87s you want as many ppl in the pot as you can...definitely don't want to be HU. |

| I presume all those knocking re raising with suited conns have tried it at low limits and have not been successful. Everybody plays differently and I feel this play works BEST at low stakes tables. As top pair top kicker will nearly always pay you off. It is only a bad play if you do not know what you are doing. I tend to win huge pots with suited connectors when up against TPTK, high PP or somebody slowplaying trips etc. Anybody else feel the same, or is it just me? |

| re: What was he doing, very odd play poker His long pause was time spent manipulating the RNG. "Hmmm...??? Let's see what can I do that will really f' with our Hero's head?" "Oh, I've got it. This will be great! I'll give him 2-pair on the flop, then call his all-in, then BOOM runner runner with no possible draw!" Better luck next time. |

Of course if you switch your hand with KK and the river to an A you get a post in the bad beats section. |
