What do you do while playing poker?

I will have to start watching my table. I normally:

Watch high stakes.
Play piano.
Listen to music.
Read a book.
Study.

what I do is play a bunch of tables at once and listen to I heart radio so not much time for anything else

While I play poker, I play poker. I know it's an awful answer but not being concetrated on the tables usualy means a bad session.

I must agree with you on this. like me and many others we are playing to make money and or win. if you are more concerned about whats on the news or playing the piano or for heaven sake reading a book that is not poker related. just either just playing for the fun of it (that is fine) or not really in to the game.

How on earth do you play poker at the same time as the piano???

If anything I might have music or the TV on in the background, or if I only have a couple of tables going I might be browsing CC etc. But usually I'm playing ~9 so not much time for anything else

I should be concentrated on the tables, but rarely I only play poker, only if I open a lot of tables at the same time. Usually, I'm watching TV or listening to music.

Depends on how many tables i'm playing and what time of day. When it's me and the wife I play 1 table and talk watch TV etc.(I use my laptop which is always on the coffee table). When i'm alone I play more tables and nothing else during that time period. Just my habit of play .

usually if it's not grinding time i just slap on some poker vids or listen to poker podcasts. grinding time is different couple hour session and only very good jazz playing or something instrumental.

Music, otherwise nothing, Distractions always lead to a lack of concertration IMO.
I only Multi-table when I have no kids around , this is so I can get the most out of my game. If the kids are about, I normally only play the Tourneys I have too.
If I want to watch a poker channel or read, I might do these things together at the same time, as this would be classed as study for me, but I wouldnt be playing at the same time.

My son is 1 year old and very interested in all the things a small boy shouldn't be doing

(disintegrating the pump of our 300 litre aquarium, raiding the sweets-cupboard, emptying all the flower-pots,

chewing on the remote controls, playing hide and seek with the mouse and other stuff - you name it).

Apart from that there are no distractions .

I'm listening to my mouse clicking No, really, I can't even put some music on, because it's so distracting to me. Maybe if it's something like Armik I might not get distracted, but otherwise, anything with lyrics and I'm done.

You should try and play in a flow-friendly environment. That is, as little distractions as possible. Music in the background is not a distraction, but if you're listening to it loudly it definitely is.

When you're in the flow, all the decisions seem to, well, flow. Time passes like you won't believe and your concentration goes up 110%. I've only experienced it a few times while playing poker, and it was amazing. Since then I've always been searching for the perfect time to play and get in the zone.

P.S. If you have so much time on your hands while playing, maybe you're not playing enough tables? You definitely can't get in the flow while playing less than 3 tables - decisions don't pop up fast enough.

I normally feed all of the kids benadryl or I will not be abe to concentrate haha.

Erm, play poker, I think that's about it

If I'm doing a big grind with a fair few tables, there's nothing else I can do apart from poker, but if it's only 2-3 tables then I'll watch some TV maybe,broswe internet etc even then though I don't concentrate properly. Other than that, engage in conversation with the wife, but tend to just say "yes, or no" and get a response "You're not listening to me are you?" I say "of course" Then it ends up in a row, so I like to just play poker solely with head phones on.

That's a main reason I don't like one/two tables, I don't concentrate properly and tend to browse and neglect the actual game, I can concentrate with 10 tables +. Odd?!

I always listen to heavy metal while I play poker and if I am playing less than 4 tables I will check my emails, browse CC, play chess etc but more than 4 tables and its just heavy metal and poker

I always play just one table, so I usually watch TV and browse CC.

Normally play guitar while at computer desk and listen to music from the couch while on the laptop.

I find that listening to heavy metal makes me want to dismember the other players!

If I'm playing one table (rare) I will watch tv or surf the web. Other wise total focus is required or I'm not playing to the best of my abilities.

I just add more tables until I can't even think about anything outside of my computer screen. It's a great escape!

When playing early in free-rolls, I often do work on my computer, surf web, and answer emails. As the game gets down to fewer players I devote more attention to the game. I've never been great at playing more than 2 or 3 tables at once!

I usually watch TV. I find I do better when Im watching TV or browsing forums. Im not as impatient when getting dealt shitty cards. Kind of gives me time to wait out the good positions and decent starting hands.

i save the heavy stuff for deep in tourneys than the pantera or log come out

I like to play a bunch of tables..
facebook it,watch tv/movies/skate videos ,listen to some chill music,talk to friends,smoke lots of weed,drink soda or beer,eat good food,have sex.
This is why i enjoy online poker because u could do whatever the hell u want while u make $$$$$$$$$$$

When I multitable I cannot do anything else, this won´t work.
But if I just play for instance one tourney, I maybe watch TV in addition (with one eye=)

The first step is to learn to beat a certain game/level while playing one table at a time. Until you can do this, multi-tabling should be a non-issue

What do I do? I log onto Cardschat & read/respond posts.... like this one here! (I'm in a few tourneys right now. lol)

Practice Banjo or Mandolin or surf (the web, not in the ocean.)

I'm listening to music 24/7 while playing poker lol

I must admit that although most of the time I only concentrate on poker I find doing a small chore when near the bubble keeps me from getting edgy. It's usually the dishes.

But normally no music or tv or anything else for that matter.

Have a temper tantrum and scream at my monitor.

I usually listen to Pandora and play with some chips. I seem to have bad luck whenever I multitask any more than that.

I listen to music and as stupid as it may sound the more I like the song thats playing the dummer the move I make cause I get over confident!
