What do you before a tournament?

Is there anything you do to get yourself prepared for a tournament doesnt matter if its a freeroll or a buy in. I personally end up walking around the house making sure everyone is taken care of so i dont scream DONT BOTHER ME WHILE IM ON THIS HAND!!!....then i set my poker music and prepare for the worst....What do you do ?

I get real busy doing things that need or should be done before I play. I seem to enjoy myself when I know I'm not slacking off on my responsiblities to play. Sometimes I wonder why I spend so much time playing on line when it takes hours to win, that's if your lucky enough to win, which is rare!

I have a nice tuna salad. I find I play better and cash more if I have Tuna before I play.

First get something to eat so i don't get hungry during playtime. Then I get a big glass and fill it with something to drink(never alcohol) and put it next to the computer. Then i sit down at the computer, say a couple of prayers, and begin to play.

I uhhh look at the computer.

I turn on the computer.

I "double click" on poker icon of my choice.

I uhhh stretch for a bit.

I enter in poker password. ( always top secret ).

I go to scheduled tournaments.

I then choose the tournament in which I would like to enter.

I then "click" register into tournament.

I then chuckle and say "ha ha yes, I made it".

I then light a cigarette for some style, and some extra breathing room.

I then turn on the FM radio to hear the Rocky theme song "Eye of Tiger".

I then think only to myself......."Man, what a wonderful day......... I'm a proud and upstanding member of the one and only Cardschat.com

Before every tourney I repeatedly slam my forehead on the keyboard, generating a random string of letters/numbers.

I just sit and watch time go by waiting for the game to start, then do every thing after it starts.

Get a drink and go to the loo, then wait........and wait.........

i prepare myself to have a positive attitude and try not to be over confident.
i set limits if rebuy/addon.
i try to find another tourny that will keep me from becoming bored and playing to much trash. (one with lower stakes and lesser value to me.)
if it's bigger than normal i try to get in some hands prior as a warm up and get the foolish plays out of the way.
and i guess i pray that the cards will come my way.

I try to do all the things my girlfriend could want me to do after I start playing before it starts.
I always fail.

I register for the tourney (...well I forgot that, too sometimes..) - go to the loo, switch on the coffee machine (esp when it's sceduled late) and if it's a CC-tourney I boast in the LPS-challenge (peer-pressure is sooooo important).

I pull the plug of the phone, make sure my cats are fed and the cat-toilet is clean.

I check on my work scedule to make sure that the tourney is over before I have to go to work.

(I need to be in school at 7.30 am at the latest usually.)

I crush ice for my red-bull.....and then I'm ready.

Depends what kind of mood im in!
I always grab myself a healthy snack collection!
And then its either a couple of beers, or a coffee, depending on my mood

do a light work out, get something to eat, then make a pot of coffee. then hope that i have to drink it all, with any luck i will be playing for 6 to 8 hours.

I smoke a cigarette and get a coffee. That relaxes me the most and gets my mind to work

I finish all chores and make sure im nice and high then i sit down with a glass of iced tea and play my game

Coffee seems to be the main thing your all using ...what type of coffee are we talking about....caramel ? almond roasted surprise? *never bought coffee of course*...*should probably get a coffee maker* never had red bull either :P so im going to of course ask whats red bull gonna do for me ? *doesnt want to drink it..lose..then be hyper for the rest of the day*

As often as I can, I usually prepare for another tournament with another tournament. Start the sign up process as soon as I'm ready, and keep the register's going for as many tournaments as managable. Before the first, however, I take care of business (which has never included coffee in the past, but there is always a coffee maker less than 50ft away from me during game time), and play mind numbing video games. Water (or beer) is a must, and music is optional.

You need to win it ... then you can go hyper-hyper.



Being in Europe (ET +6) playing poker keeps my nights busy.
After winning the UB freeroll last week at 5:45 am I was so high on coffein that there was no point in sleeping anyhow.....
If I hadn't drunk it my face would've hit the keyboard a long time before that.
Don't laugh too hard - I sometimes woke up with the keyboard printed to my face.

Eyuchhhh. If I want a milk shake, I'll make a milkshake.

Fresh ground from beans (preferably Costa Rican, but that's just me) to a coarse grind in a burr grinder. Brewed in a French Press. Drunk in its naked glory without additives.

If I have the time, I might fire up the espresso machine and make a couple of double shots with from a fine (espresso) grind, also from the burr grinder.

I proudly claim the title of coffee snob. At my age I have so few vices left that I make the most of those that remain.

use the bathroom, get my drinks ready and be prepared to recieve bad beats. Also i make sure all my errands are done so i wont be bothered later and grab a snack if the tourney is during lunch or dinner time.

im unemployed and about as lazy as they come lately so i am pretty much already ready already to play any tourney while i am not eligible for the cc tournies yet there are many other forums i play on and try my best to contribute. so lately i am always ready for a touney.

Usually do nothing beforehand but often have to find a few things to do during cos I get soooo frustrated by players taking their time.....so I have to keep myself occupied otherwise I end up going all in just to get out of the game.

Get the coffee brewing. Take the dogz for a walk. Make sure I got some smokes. And just before the tour sits, I click the cashier tab and think, wow Im broke, maybe I should try to hit the money one of these days.

I try to set a alarm on cell for call time... Some times this works some times not... Get the kids 4 or 5 things to keep them busy... Send the wife next door... Think to my self "Self dont DONK OUT" Turn up the tunes... Roast one... Im ready...

I only relax..........

I drive home from work...grab some food quick on the way, run in the house take care of the cat, otherwise he'll run over the laptop always folding good hand, then sit back and relax.

I try to prepare myself to the conditions,think positive and do not play like donk
and I take a glass of cold water..

Take a leak, lol.

I usually open up a couple stat checking webpages and get prepared to look up whatever information I can get on the rest of my table once the tournament starts.

I generally use the john, maybe have a drink(just one, and not during play).
