What to do........What to do? So, this afternoon, I entered one of those $10.70_1 double shootouts, and won me a seat in the PS Sunday. Once again, the dilemna.....to play or take the $215 and run. I've played the mil several times(never cashed) so the last several times this has happened, I took the "safe" way out, and just put the bucks in my BR. But, there's always that wistful hope of catching lightning in a bottle, and the BIG payday. So I'm stressing over what to do. Comments? Inspiration> Suggestions?

Depends, I think on how much that money means to you. If the $215 is huge to your BR and it'll be wiser to use it in a variety of tourneys rather than the "big one," then take the tourney dollars. However, if it isn't that much compared to your BR then of course take a shot at the Sunday Mill. But, if you just want the thrill and the possibility of winning a lot of money, then throw everything I said out the window and just play.

To clarify the sitch a little- The 215 ups my online BR by 20-25%- so. significant but not life changing. OTOH, I can buy into LOTS of tourneys with it, at the stakes I usually play. Other factors I consider- my poker profits pay for little incurred expenses,eg my high speed internet bill, which would be covered for most of the rest of the year. Additionally, big wins ($100 and up) usually spell a little something special for my #1 fan, who is 110% supportive of this poker sillines. OTotherOH, ANY cash in the MIL would be huge for my BR, and I'm in cheap. When I've played tthis tourney in the past, I sometimes tend to tighten up- out of my comfort zone I guess. I'll probably dither until close to post time, and make a last minute decision dased on how I feel at the time.

I've seen similar threads in the past and I've answered them in the same way: I think it all depends on your confidence. If you feel like you can cash in the tourney, go for it. But if you think your game isn't up to snuff, then bank the cash. Forget about "the thrill". "Thrills don't pay the bills." Your advantage is that you've played that one before. You know what it is like. It would be different if this was your first time. But it all depends on how you feel about your game right now. Good luck.

Date Buy-in Game Finish Entrants Winnings 9/5/2004 $200 NL Hold'em 98 1833 $550.00 1/2/2005 $200 NL Hold'em 84 2386 $716.00 2/27/2005 $500 NL Hold'em 116 1427 $714.00 12/3/2006 $200 NL Hold'em 498 6687 $668.70 9/17/2006 $500 NL Hold'em 372 4495 $1,348.50 These are all wins from satellite entrys, I've lost count on how many times I've actually played in the Sunday game all from satellite entries. I'm guessing 10 or 12 .. not that many really. The game can be won by almost anyone with medium to advanced experiance. My last one I took the tourney bucks because it conflicted with family life and experimented with a few 20.00 tourneys. If you feel you're up to it ... go for it.... if not take the t-bucks and enjoy some more affordable tourneys without the normal stress bankroll pressure. I love this game, play TAG ...and learn .. or just play your A-game and forget it's a big buck tourney, if you're experianced you'll know what to do. If you have any doubts and your bankroll is tight take the T-bucks there's no shame in that. Either way congratulations on the win it's a good thing!

re: What to do........What to do? poker to the average CCer i would reccomend taking the t-bucks and enjoying 40 $5 tournies instead. it's usually 4+ hours just to crack into the money. most people cant play their a-game for one sng, let alone a session that can last as long as 13 hours. take the t bucks and play a few smaller tournies. or keep playing satties and save for the WCOOP main event this fall.

Dude, give it a shot since you BR allows you to do it, I wouldn't think about it twice. If you're good enough to win those double shootouts with a certain frequency, I say that soon or later you will certainly cash in a SM, its bound to happen, at least some kind of money placement which in that tourney is always a nice amount at least double of the buy-in if I'm correct; and who knows, maybe you'll crack the top 100. Do it since you can, have some confidence in yourself.

re: What to do........What to do? poker Usually I would play in the tournament, but that's just me. It depends on how you're feeling on the day. Most of the time after I get my seat, I try to play it. Then again, I'm not the best poker player in the world...so don't take my advice

personally after only a little online tourmament experience i have noticed it is better for me to enter many smaller tourneys rather than 1 large one. I have increased my Br on the smaller ones but have never managed to get into the $$ in a large one. Not to say that there isnt a lot of satisfaction in knowing that i have the chance to win the $$ I just prefer to take the easy way out. Knock em dead...

looks like everyone is saying the same thing, and i agree, go with your gut!!! granted you did increase your BR by 25%, but is that really a huge difference. you invested $10.70 and could do more either way you spend it. GL in your decision.
