What can i do to stop suckouts like these?

I'm new here and have been having some problems protecting my hands against the dreaded suckout. Here is a link to an example -

If anyone can offer me some advice to help stop this happening it would be most appreciated.

This hand is the perfect example as i have him completely dominated, and he still calls all in with bottom pair Ace kicker early in the game.

Well I guess you could try to figure out how to hack the RNG at a poker site and send it some code when the cards flip up to guarantee you a win.

Suckouts happen in poker. If you don't want your opponents calling you when you have them crushed, perhaps poker isn't the right game for you.

The hand you showed was not a suckout. It sucks, but imo wasn't a suckout. He put you on a big ace and hit his kicker so thought any ace to come he wins with 2 pair, or he still has the A if you have an overpair to his 4's. Did he make a bad call on your big reraise...yes I think so, but not if his read was above.

Just like smd said above, losing a hand is part of the game--many times when you are way ahead. The only thing you can do is try to keep the pot smaller so you can hold off getting stacked. The A on the turn woulda slowed you WAY down. But still....part of the game bro. Sorry about the hand.

I kinda agree Vollycat...he probably put u on 2 overcards... i saw many people make the play u did with AK so if he put u on AK or AJ or AQ you would have had only 3 outs... you would have been dead to you kicker..K,Q or J or whatever AX he put you on..
P.S. U can't do much about these suckouts....they happen 2 me all the time... you just have to think positive...play your best game and u will see that on the long term you should be successful.

Just try to remember all of the times you are the guy on the good side of a suck out. When it happens to me I always ask myself if I should have played it any differently, if I think I played it correctly then I just chalk it up to "thats poker" and wait for the next hand.

not tring to sound mean,but you could quit playing poker.
suckouts are part of the game,so I guess my suggestion would to be not to let it bother you as much,and just accept that it happens.

The only way to stop suckouts is to stop playing.

If you play well all time, you're bound to get your butt kicked by some idiots. However, if you manage your bankroll well and don't play games that are too expensive for what you have to work with, in the long run, you should come out on top. Overall, everyone gets about the same amount of luck in the long run, so the variables exists in how well you play.

There is nothing you can do to stop somebody calling you all in in that or any situation. However the more that guy calls you with a hand like that the more you will win in the long run. I know that is not a lot of help on the specific hand you highlighted but you cannot judge poker over one hand. You need to play thousands, probably 10,000+ and then check your stats and you will see that where you had pocket K's they beat A rag more times than they lost. Good luck.

Either that or keep reminding yourself that in the long run, you win the money when you get in ahead like that.

Suckouts just plain happen. They are frustrating but part of the game.
Your options preflop were the standard raise which you did or a huge raise whcih probably doesn't get called. Take your choice, a small pot preflop or try to get a bigger pot and risk someone drawing an ace, which is the course you chose. After the flop, I think Vollycat has a point about this not being a suckout.

Completely disagree... this hand is the definition of a suckout. When a losing hand (not counting legit draws) is all in against you and wins, that's a suckout.

Also, you DEFINITELY want to get stacked here. You are a huge favorite to win... he has only 5 outs. You won't get him in a better situation than this to get your money in. But like everyone says, a 20% chance to win is a win every 5 times. If you do it 5 times, you'll probably lose one.

Strictly betting for value you played it right, you had the best hand up to the turn and you had all your money in before the A hit. The other side of this is that it is always better to get your money in before the flop when you have a big pair. A big pair is hard to improve after the flop and decreases in value against any cards that hit the flop hard. If the opponent was holding 44 you would have been crushed. If you were willing to go all the way with the KK I would have put more in preflop. If he had folded against a giant raise, your money potential decreases but you would have exploited your edge. The opponent's play is terrible and long term you are going to consistently kick his butt.

I have to agree with this statement, that is why lately I have been playing fixed limit games, which I hate, but I do not lose all my bankroll in one hand either.
