Weekday live poker in AC?

Dear Cardschat members.

Any advice on where to play 1/2 NLHE and 2/4 LHE in Atlantic City on a Monday afternoon? I'm a fairly competent live player however I don't recall playing early in the week, and I'm curious as to if there will be enough action at the tables or if it I'd crowded with nitty regulars. Got a day off so I'm heading down with a friend. Experiences/any advice/trip reports are welcome and much appreciated.

Thanks

Sorry I didn't see this earlier, hope it's not too late. I would recommend the Borgata or Taj.

Borgata is the biggest/most popular casino, most likely has the most tables running on a weekday afternoon.

Taj is also a good choice. They have pretty loose and wreckless games at 1/2 NLHE. However, you might get stabbed and you'll have dirt in your fingernails for a few weeks after you're done touching the chips.

I have really only played at these two places during peak times, but I assume they would be your best bet as well during the week.

I wish I had seen this earlier too, I'm always looking for an excuse to hit Parkway South. I'm about 30 min North of AC. I agree that there are only 2 popular choices the Borgata and Trumps Toilet, I mean the Taj Mahal.

If you guys want to hit the tables some weekend, give a weeks notice and Ill park the misses at a Caribbean Stud table or Black Jack and Team CC will clean out the local sharks.

Thank you for your responses gentlemen, I'm actually heading down in 30 minutes. I figured the Borgata and Taj would be aptly mentioned, however one cannot be too certain when new variables such as a Monday afternoon are involved. As per CAMurray, I shall definately keep that in mind, although playing higher stakes LHE might be better than the horrorfest that is Saturday night.

Good Luck Mate. If you find other game you would recommend, be sure and let us know. Your probably aware of this but the Borgata has all their games on line, as far as schedules go.

2nd post covered it. There's also a new Harrah's north of the Borgata and Caeser's just finished building their Poker 'Arena'

All of the poker rooms are good for a weekend session, but Borgata is your best bet for a Monday afternoon. I actually just went last Monday afternoon into the evening, there were probably 3 times as many players in the Borgata as compared to the previous week when I was at the Taj.

You can always find a full room w/ a nice amount of tourist's at the Trop too. They have some good tourneys also.

re: Weekday live poker in AC?

Thanks for the responses, I don't have much in terms of a trip report but it wasn't a very positive trip in regards to 1/2 NL, I was already aware of the quality of play that awaited me. Didn't make it out to the Borgata, but Caesers instead, I will probably regret that one. Bought in short both times for around 120 bucks each time, table was loaded with loud, older drunks. ABC poker play was all I concerned myself with at this point. Folded around to me in the cutoff with Ah9h, raised to 9, BB calls. Flop is Ace, 6, 9 rainbow. He checks, I led into for 14 I believe, he smooth called. Turn is a blank, a trey if I recall correctly. He checks again. At this point I figure he's got A10 or AJ, I bet about the pot, he shoved, and I called. Shows the set of 6's and takes it down. This happened for another 2 buyins, just getting felted by boats over straights and bottom set over top two. If I play live again, I'd rather buyin 2-5 short for 300 instead, lolz.

Thats gonna happen in 2/5 too. Set mining is a pretty common practice in live cash. The hand you described above is a fairly common hand. Its all about feel and figuring out which guys call any raise with a pocket pair and which ones don't. Does suck when you get stuck like that. The range you had him on could easily be correct in that spot too.

Borgata has the best games in AC IMO. But also the worse chips..they stick together.

I believe you, and I agree on why you stated. Upon reading a multitude of trip reports and stories from friends, I figure I'd give it a shot to play next time around. Live play, is of course, taken less seriously as a form of supplemental income by most players I'm sure. Yea, the sticky chips. Beats the organic funk that has petrified in the Taj's chips.

Depends what your looking for. I live 10 minutes away from AC. The looses players are at Borgota than trop and Ceasers would be second. Borgota is the largest and has the most money at it obviously because it is the new hot spot. Showboat and Taj rooms are pretty nice as well but not much action there during the weekdays.

I cut my teeth at the Trop for playing casino poker and I concur. I primarily play 1/2 NL as I go down with friends and it generates the most action on weekends aside from an occasional Omaha game. On a side note I have a friend who lives in Absecon which I'm sure isn't too far away from yourself. It would seem to be a constant lure to go play, even if one isn't a degen.
