| Week Long Experience Well, my unit just did a week long exercise at Wendover, NV and stayed at the Rainbow Casino. We worked 14 hr days, but we made sure to get plenty of time in at the tables (to include BJ & Craps). We mostly played limit $2-5 w/ a kill pot after a $50 pot. We wanted to hit the NL games, but we had like $200 bankrolls and there were guys at the table w/ about $2K. So we stuck w/ limit. Each night we played, there was at least one regular there that was bullying the table. He'd force you to have a big hand - he'd raise every time the option went to him regardless of what he had. He got caught a few times to be sure - but he had enough $$$ that he didn't care. So for most of the time you spend mucking and when you catch something you end up chasing him to the river. One time I had QQ and the flop brought 7-4-10 (rainbow). He had A2 and caught the 2 on the turn and raised. So I reraised (nothing scary on the board) - he calls. An A comes on the river and I go down. Anyway - so how do you play against the regulars when you come into town...the ones that the staff all knows and just bullies the table? The one that calls most EVERY hand (unless an obvious flop he can't beat like AAK). I guess over a week I was up some and down some - just about evened out. | The latest Poker Pro magazine has an article on Wendover in it. Seems like an interesting place. I was up against a guy like that the last time I was in Reno. They bully and chase almost every hand. I think you played it right. On the turn when he hit his 2, he only had 5 outs. Most of the time he won't hit the river and you win. Don't change a thing. Just wait 'em out and go at them hard when you have a hand. They'll fold the river when they don't hit and they'll never know what you had. |
