The weather put a bad beat on me!

I was playing Hold'em on Poker Stars last night. There was a player at the table who was trying to bully everyone...raising with rags and getting lucky. I knew how to deal with him...wait and wait some more until a Monster shows up. Sure enough, on one hand I find pocket A's and raise, waiting for the bully to reraise so I can shove all-in. There was a major front moving through the area and right after I raised, the wind knocked out our power! It came back on quickly, but I had to reset the internet modum and by the time I logged back in the hand was long over! RATS!

wow...I know that felling I have had my computer freeze on me just when I'M about to make my big move too..sucks, good luck at the tables. Tina

Similar thing happened to me 2 nights ago.

I was playing the BoDog $55+5, 15K guarantee. Four hours in and I was in 2nd place with 19 left with a hefty stack over 80K. Then horror of horrors, I lose my internet connection. After trying to reboot modem, restart the computer, etc. still no connection. My son says "Let's go to the Subway they have WiFi." We grab his laptop, jump in the car, and head to Subway. (only about 2 minutes from my house.). The only signal we pick up in the shopping center are a bar and an insurance company that are both secure networks. We then head to the McDonald's about 4 miles south. We pick up a signal but it's password protected. We see the sign in the window that says "Free WiFi". In small print it says, "1/2 hour with any purchase". Since the inside restaurant is closed, we go to the drivethru. I say "If I buy something, can I get WiFi?" He says "What size FRIES?" I say "No, can I get the internet, if I buy something". He say yea, and I order a coke.

Anyway, while we're sitting in line, my son picks up a strong network. We get on the site and see I'm down to 22K with 12 left. First hand back I get AQ OTB, push and pick up the blinds and antes. At this point I say Screw this and back out of the drivethru, into a parking space. Next hand I pick up K9, push and get called by A4s, hit a 9 and double up. Make the FT and pretty much fold and twice the SB folds to me, giving me his blind and the antes. Aggressive big stack is to my immediate left and he's stealing lot's of blinds. Down to 9BB I shove K8s OTB, big stack thinks and finally makes the call with KQo. I hit an 8 on the flop, flush draw on the turn, and go out of tournament in 6th, when a Q comes on the river.

Start the car and head home.

I ended cashing for $675 up from the $180 I would have gotten if we didn't go to McDonald's, but if I didn't lose the internet connection, who knows how it would've turned out.

If it happens again, I won't waste any time. I'll go to McDonald's right away.
