Want to Hear My Idea For a POKER MOVIE!!!

Ok, so Here is my idea... feel free to steal it if you like it... I have hundreds of them ;-)

The story takes place in Mexico City... based on a few real characters I know...

My Story (Death Mans Hand)A8

The Story starts in black and white... in the back of a bar, where there is a private room, there are a few tables where people are playing poker, but we are focused on one table... where a big Mafia Boss is playing poker against a local legend... His Name is Johnny Barajas, he once took down $1.5 Million Pesos from a Vegas pro in less then 5 hours... his son is watching close to him, and as his father plays against the Mafia Boss... Johnny would call his son over and show him his hand, only 10 years old... but he thought him everything he knows about the game.

This game was a little then any other game, a lot was riding on this game... his Johnny showed his kid As 8s, the flop came A c 8d 8h... full house, the betting started with the Mafia Boss, he raised almost half his stacked... Johnny confident with what he had... pushed all in... the Mafia Boss Called, and before he could turn them over Johnny knew the bad news... He had Ad Ah... for a bigger full house...

The Mafia Boss order his body guards to grab Johnny and take him out back... his kid, watched as the two body guards took his father out back... that was the last time he would ever seem him again...

10 YEARS LATER...

the little kid is not so little any more... working at a restaurant washing dishes for a living. His mother didn't want him following on his fathers foot steps, she didn't want to loose him like she lost his father.

The KID was good at the game, he still played with friends at their homes, he stilled remembered everything his father thought him... His friends would ask him go to with him to the Clubs and Bars... where they had poker games.. he refused every time... on the count of his mom not wanting him to play...

One Day the KID was walking on the streets and bumped into an old friend of his fathers... who owns a very nice private casino... He would tell him about his father and how great he used to be... he told "listen KID, if you ever decide to start playing come see me... i'll give you a line of credit for you to play with.." The KID thanked him, but told him not any time soon...

Work was getting complicated, and bills were pilling up... he was getting frustrated... some people are born to be dishwashers, but some people are just destine for bigger things... so he left the dishes and walked out on the job at the restaurant... Went to the private casino, where his fathers friend told him he would give him a line of credit... he welcomed him with open arms... gave him $50,000 pesos to start playing with... in this then 2 hours he turned it into $274,000...

For the next few weeks he was at the clubs and bars playing poker on a regular basis... making a lot of money... on the weekends he would go out with his friends to the most expensive night clubs... limo rides and champagne... beautiful girls... the works... he got it all...

But the fun came to an end... the Mafia Boss, walked into the casino he was playing in... came over to the table where the KID was playing... and told him... "You have been playing in my area with out paying taxes for it", the body guards grabbed the KID and took him to the back alley... the Mafia Boss took all of his Money... as the KID was getting a beating from the Body Guards... once he had all his money... they left him on the street...

The KID was angry... he wanted avenge his father, and get his money back... back at the casino, his fathers friend told him... he would give him $1 Million Pesos for him to play against the Mafia Boss... So he went over to the Mafia Bosses Casino and Challenged him... the Mafia Boss Agreed... but told him, if you loose you also loose your life... it was a dangerous proposition... but the KID accepted...

they both sit down with $1 Million Pesos in Chips... he gets flash backs from that day he saw his father playing the Mafia Boss... the first few hands the KID takes a little hit... and is now down a little more then half his stack... the Mafia Boss tells him "thinks aren't looking good for you, but don't worry soon you'll be joining your father". As he finished saying that, the Mafia Boss took a sip from his Whisky... the KID noticed that every time he took a sip, he had a made hand... He began to use this against the Mafia Boss... to rebuild his stack...

The Final Hand... The KID gets dealt 8s 9s, the Mafia Boss Ah Kh.. flop comes 7s 10s Kc, The KID Checks, and the Mafia Boss Bets... KID calls... the Turn... 6h.. The KID checks again... the Mafia Boss Bets.. KID calls.. the last card is the Kd... The KID checks... and this time the Mafia Boss Movies all in... and tells him "you were on a flush draw and didn't get there, now you are in to deep".... the KID Calls and turns over the straight...

The Mafia Boss is angry that he lost against the KID... the body guards are moving towards the KID to grab him... but the Mafia boss orders them to stand down... he tells the KID, "You played good, your father would have been proud... i'll give you your money, but i don't want to see you again, you got 24 hours to get out of town".

The KID takes his winnings... packs his things into his 1960s Cadillac Convertible... says bye to his mom and friends... and drives out of town... on the passenger sit, a picture of his father... the KID (inside his head narrator) "There is nothing left for me to conquer in my home town, I have avenged my father and am sure he would have been proud, but now I must conquer my own goals and dreams"... and as he is driving on the highway... the camera pans away from him and zooms out from the car... we see the Vegas Lights...

The End

I'm going to be brutally honest here. The plot was boring, predictable, unrealistic, and the part I highlighted in bold text is a blatant ripoff of Rounders.

actually both hands in the beginning and end plus the whole read thing when he drinks his whiskey, are all very like rounders the movie

THis is AWESOME!!!! Who would be cast to play 'The KID' in the movie? How bout Matt Damon... or maybe Brad Pitt? Who'd be in for the mob boss? Maybe Tony Soprano? (< for lack of his real name).

Errrr... why does the mob boss move allin on the river when he figures the Kid missed his flush draw? What hands does he figure he's getting value from here when he shoves? If he really did figure the Kid had missed the flush draw (how would he assume this from the river 'check'?)... maybe he could bet out ~1/2 pot (if stacks were deep enough), to let the KID hang himself when the KID crai on the river on a bluff?

How does the KID know he's not gonna get his ass beaten again at this game? Wouldn't the mob boss be more inclined to give the KID a dirtnap if the KID wins... & not if he loses? (I didn't get this part ??).

What's the planned title? "Grinders" "Ovalers".. or perhaps "Round & Round we Go!" Or maybe the 'Tijuana Kid'.. 'The Tenors'... idk.. I give up. Any thoughts?

Doesn't seem like a different twist, just seemed like any other movie out there. Even one that was already made...."Rounders" ....nice try though, you say you have more...lets here some other ones...

How about we do the movie all backwards! Instead of it being all hyped up lets dumb it down and show all the hours of grinding instead of the hot points of the movie then people will truly know what the poker world truly is muhahaha

Im always coming up for ideas for movies that have been already made. And I'm not talking about movies I've seen. I describe them to friends and they say "oh that was ... "insert movie title here";

I think the last one was me telling the gf about a story where this guy works for a casino who has just naturally the absolute worst luck on the planet. When someone is on a heater they sit this guy next to him to ruin his run.

Apparently it's already a good movie called "the cooler" with William H Macy. Never even heard about it before.

I'm in the camp that would like to hear more--I think this is fun! How about one with a female protagonist?

To my knowledge, there aren't too many of them out there. Just off the top of my head I can think of 2--"All-in" and "Big Hand for a Little Lady".

there should also be a scene where John Malkovich asks damon if he wants a cookie

It's over $80k, that's not micro stakes. :P

How about.. 'new-ish(er) mtt player (female) from a poker forum who's only ever played online and always micro stakes (mostly priv. forum games).. wins a satellite ticket to the WSOP MainEvent. Makes plans to turn the trip into an experience they're planning on writing about for said poker forum & wins the $1K 1-table satty.... thenplays in the very event they had planned on only observing & writing about... they are actually now playing in it!!!
Day 1 turns to Day2.... .then Day3.... then Day4..... Day 6 they wake up with AA & choose to flat a 3bet.... concealing the strength of their hand & relying on their EXPERT postflop skills they've acquired from playing the forum micro donkaments. They ship it on the turn as a huge favourite & then get sucked out on by some idiot kid on the river. (same idiot goes on to take down the MainEvent!!)
They call down to Mexico & get the very same MobBoss who killed their father... but he's got cancer now & is on his death bed. He wants to make good on what he's done to this young woman (when he killed her father when she was a 'kid'). He calls up a last favour (one of many owed to him) even though while on his deathbed he wanted to make ammends as best he could... but had been stuck figuring out how to do so... all he's ever known is ruling with the sword & putting his friends & foes in the Rio. (& dirtnaps along it's banks... obviously).
He makes the call & sure enough... who shows up for him? It's Philipo Helmuthalez who is absolutely STEAMING from a badbeat just prior to final table... when a dumbass NorthernEuro donk sucked out on him with the best hand (damn they play bad!!). Helmuthalez takes the ME winner to the washroom, requesting a special interview (the ME fish winner... thinks Helmuthalez is there to congratulate him but doesn't want to do so in public.... cuz of course "Getting it in with TT preflop 200bb's deep is f'n standard.. he just didn't want to openly admit in public"). Kid follows him to the washroom to be cont'd.

Kid (which 'kid'?.. tabernac... the ME winner obv!!) walks out of the washroom with a smile on his face.. Philipo follows shortly after (come on.... not what you're thinking!).
Turns out Philipo had decided to attempt to stick to the old man (mob boss).. cuz he'd also lost some big pots to him on the cash tables in Acupulco... so instead of flushing him away down the river... he instead invited the 'kid' (you know which kid.. come on) to come represent BU (a reputable poker site he put his name on!). Kid's career instantly goes down the shitter because BU ends up having a big scandal when it turns out there's an ex-employee (a nothern European incidentally) who is able to see the holecards... goes by the name of Rip-potter! (not the kid who won WCOOP.. please..). Helmuthalez sees 'the kid' at a WPT tourney & right after he's down in the fetal position for 5mins., he rolls down the aisle, then rolls the kid in the alley out back.
The End!

As with any poker movie, big improbable hands are always involved (tie here between Casino Royal, and the Maverick movie), so a real twist would be the donkey bluff where an AKJ beats out an AKT on the driest board ever (2348K)

I vote for PO's movie idea as the best with the following contingencies:

1) romance, I want romance (being politically correct here but you know what I mean ) and

2) dj's donkey bluff hand factors large in the tourney's outcome.

Poker Face?

Here is a little tidbit from a new poker script I'm working on. It pokerstars Edward Norton as 'Bruce Banner', a scientist who is trying to get his life in order after a freak accident using gamma rays. He took time off from the lab to marry his then girlfriend, Betty Ross, played by Liv Tyler. During his break, Bruce discovers poker while at a friends house and realizes that he has a natural knack for crunching numbers and does exceptionally well. This gives him the confidence to try his luck at the WSOP.

The movie is tittled:

The ALL-INcredible HULK

The scene takes place at a local casino during a tournament. Bruce is in hand with a stack that is slightly larger than his. They are only 6 spots away from the final table. 1st place takes home $200K

Villain: (Looks down at JJ in the CO) I raise it to 550K

Bruce: (On the Button, looks down at AA) Are you really trying to CO steal, bro? Lets make it 1.55 Million.

(Both of the blinds fold)

Villain: Bruce. What are you doing? This is a man's game, go home. Look under your microscope or whatever it is you do. Tell you what, I'll make it easier for you, I raise it to 3.925 Million.

Bruce: All right, all right. I'll just call. I don't know, you could have me beat and I hate to go home right now. (Bruce slowly slides the chips in.)

The flop: 10 D 9C 7 H

Villain: Ok, Bruce. I check to you. Let's see what the "BIG MAN" wants to do.

Bruce: (Quietly puts out a 5 million chip bet)

Villain: I call.

The turn: Qd

Villain: (Looks at Bruce's stack) Ok, I check again. How bad do you want this pot, Bruce?

Bruce: (Thinks for a second) I'm all in. All in for 11.6 million.

Villain: (Whistles) That's a pretty steep bet but I think I have you, Bruce. I think I do. I call.

(A gasp can be heard echoing through out the silent casino as everyone looks on.)

Villain: I have JJ. (Flips over his hand)

Bruce: (Laughs) I think I have you beat. (Flips over his hand to show the villain the bad news)

Villain: Oh!

(Slow motion as the dealer peels of the burn card, then slowly turns over the river)

The river: 8d

Villain: Yes! Yes! Yes! In your face, Bruce! In your face! Hey-is he crying? Bruce Banner is crying everyone!

Bruce: (Is seen with his face buried in his hat, breathing heavily to himself.) No...no I'm not crying...(Bruce drops the hat to show red, soulless eyes staring back at the villain.)

Villain: Hey, man...wait

Bruce: (Lets out a monster roar; his pain, agony, and frustration can be heard echoing throughout the walls) AUGHAHAHAHAHGHHGH! (His cloths rip of his body as his muscles increase in size. His once thin, rice paper flesh is now a dark, emerald color. He is no longer a man, but a monster.) "BAD BEAT!" "HULK HATE BAD BEAT!!"

Villain: No! No!

Hulk: (Punches the villain in the chest. In one smooth motion, one man because a fraction.) "RAWRRR!!"

There is chaos in the casino as everyone scatters to get away, but the Hulk easily kills everyone in his path. He lifts up a dealer table and throws it against the doors, jamming it. There is no escape for anyone.

Woman: Oh, GOD! He's killing us all!!

The sound of casinos slot machines are soon drowned out the sounds of terrified screams, bones break, and flesh ripping. And then it's silent.

...This is as far as I got.
