just wondering if any one has any advice on how to battle the effects of going on tilt when playing on line. If it happens in a live game the most you can lose is your stack but when playing on line i'll get worse and worse going to game after game until i've blown it all!

Easiest thing in the world when playing online to battle the tilts. First get up, walk over to fridge, make a sandwich or get a soda, watch some TV, use the bathroom, check your email, read the posts here, reply to a few, then go back and play. By that time you will have calmed down and got a grip on your game again.

The hardest thing for me is to realize that I've went on tilt as it can be a very subtle change in the way I usually play. This is something I've really been working on for the past few months and I've improved my "recovery" ability a great deal. If you see yourself in a hand you wouldn't "normally" play - you're probably tilting and need to back away. I always remember that poker is a game and stuff happens, just move on and prepare for the next hand. Never forgetting that pocket aces are just the best PRE-FLOP hand helps me keep a good perspective on the game. The first time you lay down pocket aces because you believe you're beat - and don't regret it, is when you have your poker personna under control... |

I've had a problem with this. The way I deal with it (which is pretty poor) is immediately fold the next hand, take a deep breath etc... A bad hit really screws me up though and I start playing like a complete jackass. My one freeroll I've played since my wife had a baby (July 15th), I did exactly that. Can't call it a bad beat, as it was cards I should have never played in the first place, but it took half my stack, and I wound up making pretty much the same boneheaded mistake again right away.

I've been having problem with this too and I have not been able to get in control...Last time I was winning like $50 dollars started playing heads up only for $5 and won like 3 in a row a few times after I got beaten 3 times in a row I went to the $20 heads up and lost everything...Rookie Mistake I guess.
