Update on poker site MIT project. So if anyone had read my post about my brothers MIT resarch on online poker gambling, Ive come to give updates. In case you didn't read the post I'll sum it up for you.. MIT was funded over 50 thousand dollars for the group of 17 researchers to study online gambling, bots, odds, tournament drops and last but not least rigged sites. My brother Kevin is fortunate enough to be on this team and he keeps me informed when he can release some info. Anyways...down to the good stuff. The research is said to be no where close to being done, but there are sites, and this is confirmed! that the following sites have CSI's..(Card Shuffle Interuptions) Card Spike Poker World Next are tournament drops. Ever play in a cash tournament, play money tournament, MTT, events with a lot of people...These sites are reported to have CSI's only towards bubbles of tournaments. For those who dont know what that means is where the cash starts to pay out the winners. POKER STARS BODOG PARTY POKER CARBON POKER Sketchy..anyways my brother talks in a diff language in poker to me so most of this is hard to understand over the phone.. but i took notes this time. But this is all that has been told to me so far. He said theres much to come.. any one have any questions about any of this feel free to ask!

I googled "card shuffle interruptions in online poker rooms" and came up dry. Until I read something online about such a study from a reputable source, I will then take this thread a little more serious. For now this thread gets

When he told me about it he described CSI as "almost" a undetectable shuffle error. So say the cards are dealt at the table.. your hole cards are JJ. Everyone mucks except your parter to the left who limps in to the hand. Although you dont know but he has a pretty crappy 7,5. The flop makes his 2pair and a low card. 752. He is leading the hand.. blah blah.. The website trips this "CSI". Therefore were going to see a much bigger rake from this pot. No matter what this hands turn and river are the site will be making at least 45%more of what they could have made in the beginning of this hand in rake. ..But thats me trying to explain this...Its all pretty much what my brother told me but not word for word. i may be missing a thing or two. hope that helps you better understand it a little more.

| It really doesnt make much sense to me, what does card shuffling have to do with how much rake is taken out of a hand? and if it is in a tourney or mtt or sng, it wouldnt matter cause the sites cut is taken on the buy in. the only way this would work would be in cash tables, am i correct? | re: Update on poker site MIT project. Without a doubt there is a certain element of "rigged" sites out there, certainly not any of the bigger more well known ones though. But then again thats to be expected on the internet. Unfortunately without proof no-one will believe you, and that proof has to be overwhelming, consisting of anyalsis of several million hands. Please get your brother to post here. |

Care to divulge how there are succesful online players? No? Are you basically saying that players the like of Jagsti, ChuckTs, not to mention a few more have solid online cash players are basically winning players because of "card shuffle interruptions"

Thank you for putting this up. fwiw I think it is kind of cool they are doing this study and am interested in the results. I know there are quite a few successful ppl here on online poker but these figures I believe are on an average which I find interesting. Thank you OP for taking the time to post the study progress. At least now MIT has gone from beating the system to studying it, much more legal, lol

I do often think, wth?!?! How the hell did he hit his 1 outer on the river, cuz that is sickening. Maybe there is a flaw in the system, but to say to stop playing on such sites is ludicrous (except Carbon cuz it's whack imo), EVERY site is going to suffer the same flaw if that's the case. But seriously, their study is going to have to go over millions of hands before it can be said as a flaw.

Is MIT researching online poker to verify the integrity of the online game? (like to support the PPA to get online poker fully legal in the US) Or are trying to "beat the game" like the MIT blackjack team. I want to know who put up the 50 grand. And does anyone have a link to a site at MIT to see what they are doing and why.
