Just sharing anice poker story

Im not saying it is high stakes in comparison with what pros play etc but i just finished a 30 - 40 min cash game (1$/2$ blinds) which i came out of with just over a 300$ profit (it feels good)

started with 20$ deposit....won some sitNgo's to get up to 40$, came fourth in a MTT and won 91$, some more sitNgo's and now a good cash game place and 4 days after my deposit my BR is from 20$ to 464$. Dont you love it when things go right.

That is a very nice run, but I hope you understand that you will go broke if you continue to play 200NL. Read up on an article about bankroll management (we have many on this site). You should not be playing anything higher than 25NL right now.

I know what i did was stupid, but im impatient and when my BR was going up slowly i got bored and just went for it.
checked out table for about 10 mins b4 hand, made sure i wasnt short stacked and tired to not get intimidated by large bets (seen so many people, including my self throw away the best hand just because of a scary bet).

obviously it went well and now im statisfied with what i got in my BR so i can take it slow. TY for the advice thou Bw, appreciate it.

No kidding. If you've ever flopped set under set twice in the same day, you'll understand. $2000 isn't enough for 200 NL.

What do you guys recommend I play with a bank roll of only $200? I've been playing NL $0.25/$0.50 8-10 player tables. I started with a bank roll of $70. I want to start some sit and gos too.

You should only be playing NL.05/.10 and sit and gos no higher than $10. A good rule is to have atleast 20 buy-ins.

Why only $0.05/$0.10 cash games? So in order to play $0.25/$0.50 do you recommend a bank roll of $600 since I usually sit in with $30 each time. I usually keep playing until I come out ahead. I rarely go all in unless its a 75% a sure thing.

This is pure inexperience. I guarentee YOU WILL GO BROKE unless you adhere to proper bankroll managment. You should be able to buy in for the max amount and be prepared to play when you have a 2-5% advantage over your opponent. Waiting for 75% chances will give the higher limit players some mighty good reads on you, and not alone will you get no action with your big hands, youll be losing out on lots of profitable situations. Play comfortable, build that bankroll up, and if your a decent player, in a few months youll be able to play the higher limits with a proper fall back.

Actually, at .25/.50 NLHE, by the standard formula, you should have at least a 1K BR, rather than 600. To play limit at those same stakes, 600, or even 500 is adequate. And sitting down at a $50 table with a $30 stake hampers you right out of the box. What happens if you run into 2-3 (or 10) coolers in a session? You gonna keep playing until you either come out ahead or go bust? Sooner or later,it will happen, might not be tomorow, or even next week, but it will happen.

Ive hit a bad run lately and have lost playing 5/3 dollar S&Gs and 10max. ive lost almost 70 dollars in the last week and I feel like I am playing great poker. Bad beats and coolers have been killing me, but I know that they are going to happen, and as long as i play good poker I will win in the longrun. My BR management is good, so I am fine with the 70 dollar loss. It has barely dented my BR, and although it is frustrating I know that better days are coming right around the corner. In your situation, even playing great poker, u could possibly go broke if u hit a run like I have b/c you are playing with so much of your BR at one time.

Ok thanks for the info. So I should I just play NL $0.05/$0.10 with max buy-in each time? Also what tables do you recommend for sit-n-go games with $200?

I note that OP did not say NL, just $1/$2 blinds. If this was limit, only $400 was needed. He is still short, but not an order of magnitude short. He also said he was not short stacked for the table, which also might indicate limit.

This is just an update from the first post, doubt i would do it if it was negative but anyway.
I have increased my 464$ into 850$ and i came first in a MTT to win entry into an EPT final MTT with the prize being entry to any EPT live event of my choosin. seeing as my goal is to go to a big live event..i really hope i do it .
profit on my initial deposit = 830$

i like sit /gos and tourneys, than cash, but in cash is easier to have more profit i think

u should probably be AI everytime u have 40% (not 75%) equity, so u need a bigger bankroll.

ive been told that for sng's or mtt's you should have 100 buy ins. is this sound advice?
