Ugly American

As an American myself, I'm really dissapointed at the fact it seems almost all the Whiners, Complainers, and Smack Talkers are Americans. Too many players start with the Donk this, Donk that, What an idiot stuff whenever they lose a hand. Lots of times these players don't even have much of an advantage. It's just that the other player didn't play the way "they" thought was proper. I've gotten surprizingly little of this comment directed at me, given that I'm still new to the internet aspect of poker. I get frustrated too when my pocket K's get called by some 5 / 8 offsuit and then they hit a draw, but it serves no purpose to trash talk and berate someone. I further see it as one of the heights of cowardice. It's easy to smack talk when the person isn't there. I guarantee these people wouldn't pull this more than once or twice in a live game at a poker house.

So Lighten up Americans. Show some class. You only make the rest of us look bad and all you accomplish is making all the other players smile when you bust out.

A. On pokerstars the player are mostly Americans, so you will see more trash talking by Americans just by the sheer number of players.
B. I have seen German players get down right nasty many times. Ask them to speak English while playing and see what kind of reaction u get. I've had to call the moderator many times, because the sometime refuse to speak English. I always ask nicely and every time, they either ignore me or get nasty.

I agree that I've seen trash talk by germans, as well as others, but I still maintain that most are American. Besides, I'm not offended by the Germans or others because I'm not German.

Well I'm assuming the majority of players are American, so that would make sense that the most idiots are American. I'm pretty sure the most classy players are also American. I've had 3 people on 3 separate occasions bash me for being American and basically just start bashing the country. So I defended it and basically made the other guy look like an idiot on all 3 of them. As much as I dislike our current President, he is our President and there are enough true things about him to trash him without making things up. It's fun when I'm debating someone who basically thinks he's the King of the US and doesn't understand our government at all.

First of all No one can say that because this person trash talks, that the whole country is bad, there ppl aren't classy and so forth and so on.
Secondly this is online ppl are behind there screen in the comfort of there homes, and basically here there the kings, Queens, and Supream Ruller.
Thridly I'm Canadain eh, and I do my fair share of you mother, ****er, donkey son a bitch piece of shit, and the trueth is, It's not really directed at the person but in an odd and yet truethful manner it helps me deal with a Bad Beat, now if it was in person would I say the same Thing, well I Can say Yes but then again you wouldn't know, because you don't know me, and that's the beauty of online poker

I love it when I get trash talked, most of the time it spurs me on and I really enjoy knocking the guy out of the sng's I play.

Yesterday I got called a camel jockey by an american (even after Id explained I was the whitest bloke ever). This does not mean its all americans are like this though I had all countrys from English, German, Brazilians and more trash talk. Notice its usally the guys who are losing?

In the same respect I have sat at a tables with all nations and had some great convosations about poker and all sorts of things, how nice that is and is sort of what the game is all about for me.

^^^ same here, I usualy just leave stats up and ignore the chat unless it's a CC game where freinds come over to rail with ya.

On the rare occasion it's on I kinda like seeing the trash talker, he's usualy good for a bunch of easy chips. I don't bother to reply to him at all becaus it just seams to make them madder therefore more susceptable to making horrible calls. he ofter min bets to the river where a nice stroung check raise makes his ego call where his brain would have mucked the cards in a blink.

I'm an american who is sometimes ashamed of the "ugly american" stereotype at the tables also. But I've played long enough to have read some pretty horrible things typed in by others from all over the world as well. Just last month, some kid from Italy hoped I would get cancer and die slowly after I felted him for the 3rd time in a ringer! .... wheres the love?!?

And don't forget that we americans make up approx. 80% of the online poker player base! so the numbers are bound to appear slanted,,,

I think there have been some studies into this (don't remember where I read these), but there are real differences in the average playing ability according to geographic location. I guess because Finland fairs so well, we don't have say such things.

I think America's playing ability is low on average when compared to the rest of the world, resulting in such things getting said when the fish are taken for their money.

See there? Proof it's not just Americans who trash talk. It's just that the Fins like to be more, oh, I dunno, subtle.

If haved americans,germans,brits,danish,brazilans,french,ja panish,russian and even a person from jamica call me(or other at the table) all kinds of nasty names. That does not mean all people from that country are like that,i actually think it proofs the oposite that where all the same.
Every country haves its idiot and allround a**holes,best whe to deal with them is just mute them and not give them the pleasure of geting under your skin.

Ok this is my first response to anything, lol......I noticed that most of the people who talk trash are Americans (on fulltilt) but I personally think this is because most of the players seem to be from there, I'm from NZ and its quite rare to play another NZer unless of course its the NZ free roll then we seem to those annoying people too
