Been playing micro (.50-5.50) tournaments over a year, probably ~300 and still haven't passed that mark. Only play large 1500-4000 fields, made a handful of final tables but have lost every race when I get there. Gone out between 8th-5th at each, best cash ~$100.

re: Truthfully now...How long poker I still have the screenshot from my first "major" MTT cash. It was 4 months after I started playing. I think it was a $10+1 rebuy and I think I only took the add-on. 1stMajorMoney.jpg (http://www.cardschat.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15862&d=1229719971)

won and placed several times in SnGs up to $55 buy in.... 1st there is $249 on Tilt. MTTs play mainly 10+1 and 24+2, the guarantteed and midnight madness tourneys. Still no significant placement yet. Once I funded my bank and stepped up my stakes I found my level of success increase dramatically

I've played in several 5 - 10 dollar MTT's and have only cashed in 2, have never wone a cash tournament although I've won a couple of freerolls withover 4000 people in them. I think I haven't wone a cash tournament is because the better players are there. Anyone agree?

years ago on party poker, about 15 months after starting i played a 10-1 buy in tournament, about 2000 people in it, took 6th worth like $986, nice but still disapointing since i was chip leader from about a hundred left down till shortly before i went out. then 2 days later played a shootout tournament 5-1 about 340 people and took 7-8th i forget but took out another $ 450

I lost 5 or $600 in the first few months of playing on-line in 2004. I didn't play live. The next year I won a couple thousand $$. One of the first win's was $11 PL Hold-em, 373 entrants for $932. I think there was a $3. NL Hold-em win for $1100. After a few months warm-up, I was hot! That answers your question, but the story wouldn't be complete without adding that aside from a few cashes in 05 and 06, I've lost almost all of my winnings. Cash games are part of the reason, I suck at them, but I'm still trying to figure out what's wrong with my MTT stratagy. That's why I'm here, lol. After about a year off from playing for money on-line, I'm back at it again. Not quite as obsessed this time. Good Luck, Tom

My very first cash tournament was my first win. It was a charity tournament at a local restaurant. There where 135 players and we started off with 500 in chips. I got First place and won $1,800. I have had about 5 other wins since then but all under $500 with 2 other first places and about 60 people.

| Sorry for bumping this thread but had to correct something. Just unlocked my opr for Alon's contest and my highest cash is only ~50 . Could've sworn I had a 6th in a dollarment for 80+ but never known opr to be wrong. Quote:

The one I noticed was several months ago when I had a decent cash and went to OPR a few days later to see how it affected me, and it never showed up on my list. |

my biggest win was about 50$, but I should have won much more on this tournament with 1.5k$ pricepool, i was going to cut my christmastree when i had played for 3 hours so i let my friend play for me, and when i got back 30 min later he told me ( i was in top 5 when i left with 40 players left itm is 27) he was knocked out at 28th with aces vs jacks, and that sucked

re: Truthfully now...How long poker I have been playing since 2005. I had a few decent payouts in MTTs at Empire Poker in Jan/Feb/March in 2007 which worked out about 4-5 Thousand dollors per month then I coudn't win nothing big at all I have been playing on Full Tilt since Feb 2007 with not a great deal of sucess. losing $50 here and there. I deposited yet another $50 last Nov 2008 and went down to $20. Then I really studied my game and where i thought i was going wrong. I deposited $100 on Full Tilt on Christmas day and since then i've got on a few Final tables and built my bank roll up to $400 Then yesterday morning 3rd Jan i came 2nd in one of the $26 double stack MTTs and won $1677. I just hope I can keep it up

It is very difficult to say how long it should take you to have a major cash. There are a lot of factors that go into that one. I didn't have a major cash my first couple of years but I was just playing the cards and not the people at the table or the position I was sitting in. I was not learning from my mistakes either. You must learn and remember what you did or did not do in the last few tournies to be able to advance each and every time you play no matter what stakes you play at.Hope you have better luck and if you keep playing it will come faster than you think now that you have all this help.

My first major cash was within a week of starting playing Texas Holdem some 12 years ago. Made final table in a $11 buyin some 600 plus players I forget how much I made. All I did was raise when I had any of top ten starting hands and continued too bet no matter what. LOL got lucky in that one but was soon to find that strategy was depeply flawed.
