Tracking Software & Others

I was wondering about this for some time now.
What sort of software is anyone using and does it make their game better?
I have read up on Poker Genius or Poker Edge...but do not use any.
My thinking is that they are either 'training wheels' or a 'cheat'.

I merely rely on notes during play and my 'game' to get by.<--key word there.
Paying attention to my opponents and betting patterns, position play and Pot odds to get my game to a decent level.
I manage fairly well and anyone that plays on PokerStars in a 'Hubbles' knows that 10,000 Freerollers is a lot to weed through, and the type of play varies greatly.
Also what are some good tools for getting Hand statistics..
Saw Flop % in BB,SB, other and Pots won Showdown and w/o
I have asked this in a different thread but can't locate it...as per most common Hole Cards..etc.
