| Tourney Theory What would the best tourney be? I have always viewed tournies as a level playing field. Attempts to unlevel that field are an anathma to that concept. For TV, Holdem works best. It is easy to see what is happening when we can all see hole cards. This could work but be less exciting with any stud variation. Falls really flat with Omaha, but could be adapted after editing. For players I would make the case that Horse Tourney is best. Bewsides breaking up the tedium of hand after hand folded because of cards, the Horse format suggests that if there really is anything to a bad card streak it will be countered by the upcoming low hands. This breaks down to less luck, and more player skill. Rebuys and Add-ons... IMHO a resounding NO !!!!!! They smack of big bankroll bullyism. The only thing I liked about speed poker on TV was the 2 dealer part. For live games, the dealer causes most of the delay. The 15 seconds or less to decide on an action is too short most of the time. 30 seconds might work. In bigger (more entrants) tournies, I would favor a series of linked single table sng's. Top 2 from each table advance. What do YOU think? |
