Tny Poker: My top 10 tips to Winning play

Ok - time to get slaughtered. Heres my top 10 peices of advice to win a S&G or MTT. Do not take each piece of advice totally literally.

I am bound to have missed something obvious - so go ahead tell me what I have missed? ( or not understood)

1) Play tight and aggressively in general. Raise your good hands To get maximum value. You want some people, but only one ( two max ) people, in each pot to protect your hand. Isolate and destroy.

2) Stay ahead of the blinds later in tourneys, Play Positional poker when it matters later in Tourneys.

3) Only play marginal hands, ( Sc's, low PP's) in late position and if you can get in cheap. You are looking for trips or better. Otherwise a likely fold. Potentially raise in position - link to 2).

4) Identify weaker players and bully them. This means Understand fold equity and also play to people weaknesses - whatever they may be. ( check when you know they will raise and bet when you knwo they will fold )

5) Try to avoid putting your chips all in for a coin flip when you feel you are better than the players around you. If you do go for a coin flip try and make sure you have them covered.

6) Know when to have patience, know when to make moves.

7) Only raise or fold with AK - Try not to call ( unless you have value and a read ). Do not overate the hand.

8) learn how to fold when you know your beaten ( do not call and hope ). You can always make a comeback.

9) Observe. Do not just wait for your hands. watch watch watch and use what you learn. Take notes if you have to. This allows you to play more than just the cards you are dealt.

10) ............and finally Hope for Positive variance

yallhave to race all the time in mtts the winners are always the ones who take risks and get lucky in the races the tight players dont usually ft and if they do they have to get lucky there to win.

im not saying dont try and get money in wayy ahead but if i know i am a fav howver small i will put all my chips in even if i am second stack to the chip[ leader. if i win i have double nxt best stack

Learn at what stage of the game to begin attacking the blinds and antes, and once you start use unrelenting controlled aggression.

Re-read Harrington on Holdem.

Learn the value of limpers and/or dead money in the pot when deciding on taking a coin-flip.

NEVER allow your stack to become so short its academic for the BB to call with "any 2"
