Tilt more on or off line?
I just read a nice little post about tilting and it got me thinking. Do you guys find yourselves on tilt more online or during live play given the exact same situation? For instance, your aces getting flushed by 23 suited on the river. I realize that there are way more hands played online than live so the chances are just greater there. But I'm just assuming identical situations. For me I tend to tilt online far more than I do with live play. Why do you think this is so?

Jeez, I guess I tilt the same. But I just don't show it live. I try not to let the other players see that they got to me. But online, I cuss and beat on the desk.
Either way, I've thankfully learned to let it all go during the next hand or go have a beer if I just got eliminated from a tourney. |

I tilt alot worse with on-line beats. Not being able to look a donkey in the face as he calls off all his chips on a 2 outer and hitting just makes me more mad. The good thing is you can let it out and not hold back when on-line. Kick the cat, punch a wall, scream all you want to get it out. I also like the fact that it is alot easier to get away from the table on-line when it is full of donkeys that you can not bust. You ask a floor manager to move to another table and everyone looks at you like it is you who is strange.
There is something to be said about actually getting up from the table and walking away that kind of lets the wind out of my sails when playing live. I have some people yell at me when I have outplayed them but then they are the ones who look stupid. The biggest thing I have learned about tilting is this. The better the poker player you are the more you are going to get outchased. You are usually put all your money in while ahead and that is the only way you get beat. |

I hate cats so I find this funny.I don't play much live and they are either home games or at the pub. I'm sure the more relaxed situation has something to do with it. Also the fact that hands take longer to play live give me a few extra moments to get over it. I rarely Tilt live and when I do I end up walking to the bar and order a drink. |

I tilt more online, by far.... but that is because I can kick over my chair and punch the wall without getting kicked out
Also online you play way more hands, against (normally) crappier players and therefore bad beats will happen way more often. Bad beats being the #1 source of tilt, you end up tilting more. Plus I'd feel pretty embarrassed throwing a shit fit in a casino over losing 40 cents but at home who is going to look askew at me... my cat? |
