Things to do when the going gets bad...

Hey everyone,

I am posting this thread to create a list and please add to it with what you do when the going gets bad in poker. Just about every pro says that when the going gets bad to take a break even if it's just a short one. But does taking a short pee break help? ussually not, Here are some of the things that I do that help out alot when I am running bad and I need to clear my head.

Take a long hot bath

Take the dog for a good 45min walk

Go to the gym for an hour workout

Read a book(non poker related)

what are some of the things you do?

i like to rip my shirt off like the incredible hulk. And then ill gnaw on it like a rabid infected savage beast while shaking my head back and forth.

Hit the treadmill with the music turned up loud for about an hour. You'll find yourself singing or humming to the music and/or wondering if you'll survive this @#$% workout. Then hit the shower. You'll forget (for a bit) all about poker.

Write an angry letter then rip it up.

Hug my son.

Grit my teeth and clench my fists in anger until I feel like I am gonna throw up.

Go out and pick a fight with a guy bigger than me.

Shut down the computer and have angry sex with Shinedown's wife.

It all works.

i also have angry sex with shinedown's wife. didn't know we all had so much in common.

i sometimes hope my worst day for poker is monday...that way monday night raw is on, and i can switch the channel to that and yell at the tv and imitate catch phrases of wrestlers from the 80s and early 90s as loud as i can...the neighbors called the cops once last summer. they thought i was beating my sister because she joined in with me

When you get a really really bad beat, suck it up and congratulate your opponent. For some reason, not sure what, it calms me down. I sort of vent with the congrats, then the next hand I am not raising with 2-7...otherwise I'm on tilt going all-in. Taking an entire day off works wonders when things are bad overall.

Ive just been away working for two weeks come back... and my is back on fire, but had to get a few cheeky hands in while in a pub in switzerland lol, came 1st on that too

BREAKS ARE WELL WORTH IT.... all poker pros do it often

I go outside and stare at the moon and recite a few incantations. If the moon isn't out then i just take a nap.

I curse raise hell throw shit around the house go out side yell at anybody throw more shit around.Then i beat my wife step on a puppy if ones around an beat the kids.Ok maybe not the last sentence ummmmm maybe not.

KEEP from hitting a steel door, if you hit it the wrong way you will be in pain, i did so last night . After I've hit the door about 10 times, the 11th time i hit it wrong...
