Is there a place where online casinos post their jobs?

I am looking to become a marketer for an online poker site. I'd like a change (currently I'm the head marketer for an IT consulting firm), like to get in on this emerging industry, and I have marketing ideas for online poker sites that I've yet to see any implement. However, I have yet to find an online job site that lists jobs with online poker sites. And the vast majority of online casinos don't even have an employment page. What I hoping is that someone here might know of such a job site and/or a forum that caters to the online gambling industry.

Unfortunately, I have been told that jobs with online poker sites tend to go to friends and family. This being a mark of an emerging industry and thus is kind of good as far as I'm concerned since I want to get involved in an emerging industry. The downside of this is that it makes it that much harder to get a foot in the door.

What I have done is send my resume unsolicited to a number of online poker sites and asking if they have a marketing job opening. The result of this effort has been one poker site being interested. Last week, I had the first telelphone interview with them and am waiting for a conference calls with both partners. However, there is no guarantee I'll land the job so I would want to continue looking and contacting to generate more job leads.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Well, I'm sorry I don't have anymore information for you, but I think you're going about things in the right way. Just keep doing what you're doing. Good luck in your interviews, and keep us posted on how you do!

I haven't heard of anything myself, but if I do I'll post it. Have you tried emailing all the sites you may be interested in? That may be a start.

This is probably the best thing you can do. Due to the somewhat shady nature of online poker in many places it's unlikely you'll find jobs openly advertised anywhere.

Yes, I searched their websites for the most appropriate email address and fired off my resume to them.

SPR,

It sounds like you are off to a good start. If they are not posting their jobs, I would wait a few weeks for a response from them. If they haven't responded in that time frame, I would fire off another email and resume to them. Good luck!

I'll do that. I've post this on two other poker forums and on rec.gaming.poker newsgroup. I've got some good advice and emails. Another online poker site told me to send them my resume (no word back yet) and, even more interesting, a well-known poker professional has contacted me. He was a businessman before turning pro so that's encouraging. He asked for my resume. I fired it to him. He liked what he saw and explained what he was thinking, including his take on the online poker industry. I replied with my take. Saying he liked what I said, next up is a telephone chat. I'll then see what precisely he has in mind for his poker site idea, how much funding, time schedule, and so forth.

I'd look around at LinkedIn for some contacts. Send me a message and I can give you a couple of names - I DO NOT know these people, but they're 3rd degrees on the network. In other words, take the names, figure out the email alias and start bombing :-D

** PM sent with a few names and one email address...

I do keep track of what Monster offers. Right now, the closest thing would be the marketing manager position with Poker Players Alliance, which I have applied for.

dont know if this will help
but try finding out who owns the poker sites. like 888.com owns a couple
im sure there are owners who own more then one. what im trying to say is that the guy/group who owns titan may very well own ultimatebet and paradise. just an example. ifthis makes no sense then please ignore for i am a little wasted right now and probably should not be typing at this juncture.
sincerely

This made me chuckle.

I sent in my resume to bodog.com. I got a reply back saying that they only consider those with work permits in Costa Rica. Looking up how to get one, it says foreigners need a business that wants to hire them. As bodog.com mandates it, it is a Catch-22. *laugh* Oh well. Their stupidity. Their loss.

Yeah, I think they all work in Calvin Ayre's basement. I hope he lets them out for some sunlight and leftovers from the Playboy-like parties he throws.

PokerStars has a list of open jobs on their website. Most of them, other than IT jobs, require you to have previous experience in a live casino or an online site.

[Splutter, Cough, Splutter]

Hold on a minute. Whats this? Dorkus Malorkus admitting that online poker has a shady nature? I had to re-read the post about 10 times to make sure my eyes were not deceiving me but there it is.

Why, I nearly choked on my croissant.

LOL. Yeah, I got drawn to the thread title through one of those 'related thread' links from another one.

But, seriously. This thread needs to be made into a sticky.

Much as I hate to dash your hopes, I meant in terms of it's dubious legality in various countries, as well as general public opinion of it. There's a difference between that and "OMG RIGGED", which is what I'm sure you were alluding to.

Nice try though, really.
