I know we have the forums, but obviously that is somewhat restricted. Is there anywhere to go to talk about poker? There probably isn't, it is kind of depressing I don't really have one poker friend. I have friends that like the game, but that is where it ends. I play this game way to much to not even have poker associates, I'll end my drunk rant there.

try railing at your local casino. Be careful though, if you rail long enough without actually playing a game yourself you may be misconstrued as a railbird...lol

I don't rail, that isn't me. I used to play at the casino pretty much daily for like a span of 2 years. A few bad decisions not even my poker play really, just away from the table and out of a bankroll. Rule 1.... NEVER LEND MONEY TO ANOTHER POKER PLAYER.

Start a poker blog! That way you can share your thoughts and experiences and people will read your posts and will give their comments and opinions.

A lot of good idea's already posted here, only other one I could come up with was maybe try social networking sites to find other poker enthusiasts to chat with using IM? But if all else fails just post on this thread & Im sure you'll get many replies :)

This is true, if I wasn't awful at english I would probably do this. I make one sentence paragraphs sometimes, and I know that bad grammar/punctuation can really annoy people.

would think that finding a skype group.
or
through facebook, finding some get-together event.

it is not that hard to find some one chat poker, and would think that if you play live often, it is not that hard to meet some one who can discuss poker with you.

Facebook

I made some friends playing PSO league games in 2010 and made a home club for us all to chat in. Not necessarily poker chat but general chatting with some railing and playing involved. I would say if possible you could try playing the league games here and meet some folks.

After we switched over to Facebook though I met a lot of players. There are times when personalities clash but that's part of life really. For the most part I have enjoyed meeting everyone and look forward to meeting more. A lot of them don't really chat but a group of us do. This time it's more of half and half between poker and general chatting.

You've already got some good suggestions here and I gave you my experience of it. Good luck and keep searching for what's best for you. :)

I've lost a few friends over the years, many have also moved long distances away, and other than my girlfriend I don't talk to a whole lot of people around me other than casually and in passing...even when they try to take it farther. I mean, at this point in life at least. I've had periods of time where I didn't have a free moment to myself for years. So, it's a nice respite now and then.

That said...yeah it would be nice to have someone to talk to about poker. The thing is that we're not going to find dozens of people out and about in our community who are as focused on the game and the details of playing it well as we are. Sure, like your friends, they "play poker" but what that really means is that they play it once or twice a month at a friend's house while they pound a few beers.

Probably the best suggestion in this thread is to go online and look for some social clubs or meetups. The internet is a fabulous tool for connecting people of any background or special interest. Keep in mind, however, that I wouldn't expect to meet the nicest, most honest, or warmest people in this of all venues. Think about what we are trying to get good at. Think about the skills required to do that well. Those traits, personality wise and psychologically, are not always the most conducive to healthy social relationships.

When I want to talk about poker, I go to the casino and I start to chat with the manager of the poker tables that accommodates the players as they are going to take place since they allow him to speak fluently with people and from time to time with some That another player when he retires at least that I do, maybe you could try to do it too
