Is Texas Holdem Boring, Compared to Omaha Hi/Lo

I am writing this Thread to ask how you Chatters feel about Texas Hold'em compared to Omaha hi, or Omaha Hi/lo.

Recently, I have been getting interested in Omaha Hi/Lo. The other day, I played several hours of Omaha Hi/lo. Then, went to another site and began playing Texas Hold'em.

To my surprise, I began to think that Texas Hold'em was getting boring and not as interesting a game as Omaha. And, particular Omaha H/Lo.

Whatever game proves to be most profitable is all that matters. Would never get bored of making money.

Omaha H/L let's you have tons more options on your play, I like to play both games. Just have fun!!

How would Omaha be more boring? You tend to see more flops and there is alot more action. Get on a table with people who play it like it's Hold'Em and it can be very profitable. PLO8 tends to be alot of fun. Especially if you get folks who love to pot KKxx and think 2 pair is actually good in the game. You have to be willing to make big laydowns in Omaha compared to HE so it's a good test of your skills.

there both fun how could get bored making money. cash games you make more money then tourneys

playing omaha high correctly is very boring- lots of folding, because a winning Omaha player only draws to the nuts. lot of action from the donks or amatuers but you will be watching more often than playing if you play correctly......dont get me wrong it's very profitable but patience is required even more so than in hold-em.

Hi/lo can be a heartbreaker. Split pot/Split pot/Split pot......I would rather compare something to razz because that's a game I can't stand.

Pretty sure this is false, you may tolerate it, but how many people get bored at their jobs despite making good money? There's a difference between not getting bored and tolerating it though.

To the OP, I've spent a long time working on my NLHE game so that's the game I enjoy the most, simply because it's my best game. Neither game is boring to me, but when I almost always end up down at Omaha and have a general win graph in the up direction in NLHE, you can see why I choose to play the game I do.

It can greatly depend on the player and their style. But I don't really like the way the question is phrased, I'd rather see it read, "Is Omaha Hi/Lo more challenging than Hold 'em?". The answer there is a resounding YES!

There are a greater variety avenues for you and your opponents to travel down and reading the board is all-important. Likewise, getting a handle on your opponents playing style can really dictate your profitability. I like both games equally and I'm rarely board with either, but if I get distracted while playing Hold 'em I generally don't get lost where as if I get distracted while playing Omaha I can easily find myself screwed before I even realize it.

It's funny that this question came up. Yesterday I "misclicked" and instead of a 6+50 turbo Hold Em game, I ended up in an Omaha Hi/Lo game .

I bumbled and stumbled my way through it (only played once before,on another misclick adventure) and somehow ended up HU. The guy tore me a new one.

Anyways, it was anything but boring and I kinda enjoyed it. If ever I can claim to be at good hold em, I'll start reading up on Omaha.

The most interesting game? Maybe its Omaha since it is not such a mainstream game and you get to see more flops plus get much more action when you have the nuts.

I would consider Omaha to be the best cash game and Holdem to be the best game for tourneys. That is the only time I play omaha in a tourney is when playing HORSE.

Poker in no form is boring. Regardless of the game, one may be maturing as a player and feel the need to evolve their play to other games. If one is really becoming bored, they should reevalute their play and go from there.

Omaha Hi/Lo is fun but i dont find it as profitable. It seems like to me that after the flop you've often narrowed it to two players. Only to split the pot after the river

This can often be true, but move in with the Nut High or the Nut Low and a great draw to the other with players calling with a draw to the second nuts and that's where you make big profits. The way to be profitable in Omaha Hi/Lo all starts with hand selection.

welll no limit tends to have swings(BR wise) so that keeps you on edge lol.......nl the game itself is pretty intense when it comes to certain situations like allins races that good stuff....id have to say it all depends on which game you like best.....

I don't play Omaha that often, but I notice that it is more of a drawing game than Hold'em.

I also don't like all of the "quartering" that can happen on the LO side.

I don't find either one boring, but I prefer hold'em.

I think all games can get boring after a while. That is why I change every once in a while. If holdem is getting boring then play omaha, or stud. Then go back to holdem when omaha gets boring. Unless you are getting the best cards ever and winning every game you play, then of course stick with omaha.

I think playing bored can be nearly as costly as playing drunk. Making good poker decisions requires attention to detail. So, if you find your thoughts drifting you might need to switch things up to keep yourself interested.

I only play omaha HU... HE for anything else. And the comment about Omaha being more of a luck game. not exactly just higher odds that your nuts will be out drawn. which you may consider unlucky.

Omaha hilo is more fun. Omaha hi is fun also. Holdem is slower because most people fold a lot more hands preflop. However I win more consistantly at holdem. I plauy PLO and holdem everyday. Hilo 3 0r 4 times a week.

I like Omaha high, the issue i have with High low is there are so many combinations of hands you often take a chance more so than Texas holdem. holdems good but not until you build a little stack and really start playing

I think Hold'em is naturally the most boring of all poker games except maybe 5 card stud which no one probably even plays anymore.

Every game gets boring for me.

What I try to do is find something new about the game when I get bored. Holdem, Omaha, etc. are so complicated that when I get bored I try to blame myself. Each game has a different way of gathering and processing information. Explore the games intricacies, find one new way to make a positive result. a new squeeze play, a way to capitalize on an evolved play, etc.

When you think the game is boring, look inward.

I switch to differnet games, based on the players. If there is a soft spot or two in Razz, guess what I'll be playing all day!

Of course, there's some truth on the other side of the coin. The addage that, if you're getting excited playing poker then you're probably playing it wrong.

For me it all depends on what kind of cards I am getting. If I am runnig into a cold deck I can get very boared. Just waitng to play a decent hand, I will start to make stupid plays just get some action. Omaha makes it more interesting because of the more cards and different plays to make but if you are not involved in any hands it will be just as boring.

Turbo forces more play, sooner but in general there are many more bad hands in omaha than in hold em, so yea, you ought to play fewer hands but the opposite seems more often to be the case, i.e., people tend to play more hands than they should AND (!) if you are able to stave of the boredom of only working quality hands -- cha-ching!

I must confess, I do prefer the Omaha hi/Lo tourneys at Pokerstars. But good Omaha H/L tourneys (esp freerolls) on the internet are unfortunately few and far between.
