| Tells for monster hands preflop Anybody have thoughts on this? I've found these characteristics - When people raise with these hands preflop (AA, KK, QQ), they hate seeing everyone fold so they try to suck in everyone with a very small raise or try to look perfectly normal with a very medium raise. - When someone else bets in front of him, he will also re-raise fairly small - The tighter guys will usually go for the small re-raises but loose guys will go for all-in re-raises. - Even when tight guys call a bet in front of him, he is not afraid of going all-in. - He is close to the money, he has fairly enough chips, everyone else is showing strength and yet he re-raises all-in - The guy just calls, somebody else bets, he goes over-the-top with all-in anything I missed |

| Great observations, Shortstacked. I've seen them all too and have done everything I can to be sure I avoid them in my game. I think these things are all signs of inexperience and that people can do away with them if they know about them and work at it. Another thing I see comes with slow playing AA, KK, QQ. You will often see an extremely fast check from an early position person slowplaying. They already know that they are going to slow play preflop, so there is no thought on the flop, they just check immediately. (Obviously this isn't good strategy as the flop could be coordinated too much making slow play very bad choice). Other plays (even simple ones) require thought, albiet sometimes just 1 or 2 seconds. But if you watch, there is a difference in response times, and in my experience, if I catch that difference, I've caught early position slow playing monsters. |

i was watching a tourney last night that my mate was in, he was at the final table and had just picked up pocket Kings, 4-handed. One of the guys put a decent raise in, then someone else re-raised allin. It was now my mates turn to act, he ended up laying down his pocket kings, an the other guy who put the decent raise in called the All-in with A10, he was about to go up against Pocket Aces, the flop comes down KK4, lol , even though my mate would of hit Quads, i thought this was an amazing lay down. |
