| Survive this month with $10 left, please help make a decision Only $10 left on my FTP account. I like to play at FTP but I resist to deposit more, what I want right now is playing poker for fun everyday until next month at least 100 hands each day. I have 2 plans, please help me choose the right one. 1. Spend 1 buck each day for the next 10 days (as my balance only $10) at Daily Dollar 20.00 ET. I'm not a good player, I'm not a decent player, so I'm happy if I can reach ITM which pay double my buy in (1080 places paid) or 2. Play cash table $0.01/$0.02 or $0.02/$0.05 at happy hours trying to grind it up or at least keep break even at 100 hands minimum a day As I say, I'm not a good player or a decent player. I'm a bad player who want to learn to play better. Also I want to enjoy playing poker everyday until next month without going busto. Please help. Thank you onizuka |

| Hello! Are you a japan? I'm just curious. If you think you should progress in poker, play in freerolls. There's nothing to lose in freerolls, but you can gather a lot of experience. Maybe the opponents won't be cool players but you will learn a lot of typical poker situations. |

| Can I suggest that you keep the $10 intact and consider playing the FT play chip games. The lower levels are very poor but if you can get yourself up to 10K in play chips the games become a lot more serious and are pretty good games. In fact in my experience once you get to that level the players seem to have more regard for their chips than some players have for their money in the lower buy in games. Set yourself a target of 500K in chips and then play the FT $40 game which usually has around 40 players in it. I think PS have a similar set up except you can sell your play chips. In the UK PS run a play chip league which runs every night with monthly cash prizes for the top 100 in the league. Not sure if they do this for other countries as well. Good luck. |

| Onizuka, I think if you are interested in playing for fun you should think and decide what kind of game you most enjoy. MTT like the Daily Dollar and cash ring games are very different types of poker. If you answer you prefer MTT, then I think you should maybe try the freeroll route until you can get a bigger bankroll to allow for strict BRM. $10 will not last long in MTT, unless you get extremely lucky. You would probably need at least 100 buyins for a tourney like the Daily Dollar to prevent yourself from going broke and to be able to give yourself a chance at seeing if you can turn consistent profit. If you are serious about making the most of the $10 you have now however, I think grinding .01/.02 (2nl) shortstack holdem during happy hours is the safest way. It is the closest you can get to practicing responsible BRM on a $10 roll. If you buy in full to the 2nl shortstack games (.80 buyin), that would give you about 12 buyins. This isn't really enough (usually you would need 20-25 buyins), but if you just play extremely tight and don't let yourself get on tilt when you get sucked out on (and you WILL get sucked out on) it should be enough to profit off the softer opponents. As far as tables, if you try and sit at the tables for 4 or 5 hours, you may have lost all $10 at that point. The play chips are a good idea, however to get to 500K would take a very significant amount of time, and in my experience, it's just too painful because they are PLAY chips and most of the time it's just a shovefest because they can reload their cihps every 5 minutes. Good luck to you. I look forward to hearing about your progress! |

| when i get low on BR i tend to play some matrix sng because you play 4 tables for the $1 +20 or $2 +25 so really its like playing four 25c tables but you get extra chances to win, smaller wins but you get a massive chance of making a small profit each time and playing four at once allows you to get sucked out on once or even twice and maybe even a mistake or two but you always have a chance of making profit. You can place bottom 3 in three of the tables and do well in one and still make a small profit. If you dont like that idea i think what your doing now is just fine too. |

I didn't realize it was for this reason, but intuitively after busting out 3 times trying to get my freeroll winnings going anywhere I've decided to build at least a $50 bankroll via freerolls before putting any of it at stake in real money games. This way I would finally be appropriately rolled for 2nl. Also, GO CUBS! What a disappointing 2010 campaign, eh? |

Also, no GO CUBS.... I in fact hate the Cubs and am a fan of the Real Chicago baseball team . The avatar is of a goat screwing a cub(because of the whole curse of the goat). As far as the 2010 season, I see it as no different as any other for Cub fans for the last 100 years as they have all been disappointments, lol |

| If you are a losing player there is no such thing as proper bankroll management. Proper Bankroll management is to keep a winning player afloat during unlucky runs. A losing player will continue to lose it. If you are a losing player your goal should be to get the maximum amount of enjoyment out of that $10. Your bankroll is not a way of making money, but more like buying a ticket to ride a roller coaster. It is worth the price, not because you expect to win money, but because you expect to have a fun time. That being said, just do what you want to do with the money. If the Daily Dollar is fun, do that. If you like ring game, play them. Enjoy yourself. |

| Daily dollar The daily dollar is a good tourney but if the time (1:30 AM where i am at) is not a problem i think the fergusons are your best value, esepcially if your goal is to just cash they usually pay out about 15% of the field, and there is no rake just $1! With 10 buyins you should be able to cash 1 or 2 times even if just by luck if you are just an average player!Good luck at the tables! |

| re: Survive this month with $10 left, please help make a decision poker I would say hold on tight to your money and stick around here! Once you become eligible for the freerolls you can get a decent understanding of poker... LOTS of great players here that will help you improve your game! Keep grinding in the freerolls and playchips until you get about $30 then you can grind your way to some real money! Once i reached $10+ before I blew it at cash games so stay away from them until you have proper BR...if u get the itch to play a real $$$ game play the 30c Daily Dollar sattys you shouldnt go bust there! GOODLUCK WHATEVER YOU DECIDE 2 DO! |

| back when i have 10$ i decided to play cash games, went on google for some strategy, made some reading here and there and also found cardschat but thats another story. in the end i decided to buy in for 1$ only, at 10 tables, nit the hell up, and if possible try to get it in preflop with AK AQ AA KK QQ JJ sometimes TT or 99. of course this was very risky since i had such a small bankroll but i got lucky enough to make it out of that danger zone. also i promised myself that if i lose those original 10$ i would stop playing, happy i didn't lose. |

| Here is the update progress of my $10 Yesterday I start my day with Daily Dollar and lost far before ITM, then I enter $3.00+$0.30 Knockout 90 man SnG and surprisingly I did well and manage to the final table and finished at 5th collected around $24 plus 3x$0.50 for knocking 3 peoples. Then I said in my heart "okay that's it for today, I should stop while on the top" skip skip but I can't do that, I play 10NL cash game with max buy in (not short stack ) play only premium hands. After lot of hands fold, I got AK suited, raised to 3x BB, all fold except 1 person. Flop K K 9, I bet then villain push all in, and I analyse first, no flush draw, all good then I call, guess what is the river? 7 Q ... And villain hold KQ. Blah, lose my hard earned $10 from MTT!!! |

Well, if you are a Sox fan than I'm gonna hafta say GFY! haha, I'm just kidding around -- I like the healthy rivalry between the Cubs and Sox. I always look forward to good baseball during the interleague games between the two -- and previously the Windy City Classic. I'll admit, I was more than a little jealous when the south side finally got their world series in '05. I was also a fan of Tadahito Iguchi -- he played for the Japanese team I root for before he went to the MLB. In regards to BRM -- yeah, it's just that it's basically impossible to follow strict BRM on just a few bucks from freeroll winnings. This is why I think building up at least $50 from freerolls before putting any at risk is so vital. I've come to realize that playing poker with anything less than proper BRM calls for is equivalent to gambling... no matter how good you play. When following good BRM, a good poker player becomes like a casino and not so much a casino patron -- you, like the house, have an edge and enough of a buffer to allow the edge to manifest. |

| re: Survive this month with $10 left, please help make a decision poker Play ten $1.10 SNGs (1 table). You say you're a mediocre player, so use the Kill Phil approach. All-in with AA, KK, QQ, JJ, 10-10 early and when you're down to around 9-15 big blinds, go all-in withany two paints or even suited connectors if you are first to enter the pot. One table SNG's pay 3 places. I think you will at least break even. |

When i was wondering what to do with 8 bucks a few people suggested the 25+5c to the Daily Dollar. You can turn these winnings into T$ and play more tourneys with them. This worked well for me. |

I also write down all my poker expenses (deposit) so I can monitor it in futures. I also start read, watch, learn all FTP Academy lessons to improve my games. For 10C tourney, I have check it, and unfortunately the time is not good at my place, so I cannot enter that tourney. Also about freeroll, I am thinking about that because it would hit my rakeback, I checked that my RB become negative because I join Daily Dollar. No, I would not do something stupid like playing 10NL again, I only play 2NL full stack or 5NL short stack since yesterday. Best regards onizuka |
