It depends. Position, chip stack (U and everyone else), read on player. But generally, I would not play A with anything less than a 10 in the early/ mid parts of a MTT - note `generally` |

I agree with everyone else. There are obviously an infinite number variables to consider in each situation. Now from personal experience, unless I hit both the A and the 2 I will lay down the top pair to the continuation bet about 85% of the time. That's just me.

First of all what are you hoping for when you call the raise in the first place? You know the guys goin to follow up and your out of position. I'd prefer a call with 6/7 TBH as you've just put yourself in a marginal situation where your going to either have to make a great call or lose a hefty chunk of your stack. Make the right move and muck the hand.

i agree, stupid play. fold pre flop, if you didn't do that fold on the flop. If you really think he's weak, reraise, I wouldn't call with Ax, or probably not with A10, AJ. Only situation I can think of doing this would be heads up or 3 handed or something.

Fold ace rag pre-flop without question unless you are in position late in a tourny where depending on the circumstance you may go all in with it, its ALL ABOUT POSITION. But it is a definite fold early in tournaments and I always say "you fold ace 3 off and the flop comes 3,3,3 you still made the correct move".

wouldn't have called the blinds with this hand let alone call a preflop raise. Except for very rare circumstances where it's extremely shorthanded and you have good reads on opponents, or you have a better than average chance of stealing worthwhile blinds in position.. I can't think of why you would possibly voluntarily play A2

A2 Ace anything less than a 10 is not stong on a 10 man table. Put yourself on a 6 man table and it changes everything. Gutsy but good. I most definately would have folded to his raise. Knowing your kicker is so easily beaten. Good luck on the felts .....Bearcat

Small ball is the key see as many flops as possible without giving up all your chips but idk about the fold anything below a ten kicker with an ace. thats just not smart play but im ultra aggressive so my opinion will differ from others.

You shouldn't have played it in the first place. You now really have only two options... Calling is not one of them.. You either fold and give up the pot.. Or - Depending on the player, position, chip stacks etc... You Raise.... That way you find out exactly what he has... Do not over-raise as you're buggered if he really has anything.. Just a simple double of what the opening bet is. This finds out if you are ahead or not. His options are for an OK hand - Call - (Pocket KK QQ JJ or maybe another A Rag... A3 perhaps... He's now scared you have AK ) For a really good hand - Re-raise you back For when he bluffed - He will most likely fold. So depending on the situation.. I would raise... If he calls you know you might be in trouble but it gives you the chance to hit your kickker and more than likely he will check the turn unless he hits. Then you put a bet in and again, see what he does. However... You shouldn't be playing A 2 in the first place.... Especially to a pre flop raise!

re: Stupid play or Gutsy play? poker 90% of the time this is a easy fold. If you are on the button and there is no limpers may make a 3.5x raise to try to take down pot, or if you are in sb and its a limp in I would see it. When the flop comes, with and A you have such a weak kicker unless u pick up the 2 pair or trips it should be folded.
