Strategy To Become An Online Poker Pro Hello Everyone, So here is my first Strategy Tip to help you get better at the online game... There are two ways to go about it, if you are a cash game player, or if you are a sit & go / MTT player. If you are a CASH GAME Player: 1) In order to fight off variance, and reduce your beta risk... you need to sit in at least 3 to 4 tables at the same time. 2) Make sure your bankroll is at a good level in order to do this... for example... if you have $200 in your bankroll... you could sit down at 4 tables with $2 each... at the $0.01/$0.02 stakes... 3) you want to set the Table View to Tile, so you can see every table on your screen... you might need to resize the tables depending on your screen size... and then you can save this custom size under Manage Custom Layouts... If you play Sit & Goes / MTT: 1) you need to find out what games you are good at and have been making a profit in, for example you might be awesome at the 9 handed sit and goes, and maybe at the MTT with 180 players. If this is the case you should play this game more often, since you are doing better at them and yielding profits. 2) After you find what your game is... you want to play 3 to 4 games at the same time, using the Tile Layout Method used in the cash game... so let say you play 4 sit and goes with 9 players in it... that would be an easy way to keep track of how you are doing since you know the top 3 are the ones that get paid. 3) Over the long term you will see that you will start getting better, and you might be going out to buy a second screen to add to your computer... then you might be like Elky who plays more then 16 games at the same time. Good Luck out there guys ;-)

A couple things here... First off, I am really big on BRM, but for 2NL $200 is extremely nitty. I'm usually using a 30 BI rule for any micros. Once you get up to the higher stakes where you're playing with better players and your profit will slow down a bit, then moving up towards 100 BIs is a good idea. Also, it doesn't matter how many tables you're playing when considering BRM, so you don't need any more $$$ just because you're playing more tables. Also, you need to mention that you should only add tables as you become comfortable multi-tabling. I would never recommend someone to just go from playing 1 tables to jump right into 4+ tables. First, you have to see if you're even a winning player with just one table, because if you're not winning at 1 table, then you definitely won't be winning at multiple tables. If you're a winning player at one table and you want to start multi-tabling, you need to gradually add 1 table at a time, and as you're adding tables, watch your winrate. It is going to drop as you add tables because you're not concentrating as much on any given table, but you're hourly rate should go up because your winrate is being spread across x amount of tables. If your hourly is going down, then you need to drop some tables because you're not playing correctly. In all, none of these tips are going to make you even close to a online poker pro...

re: Strategy To Become An Online Poker Pro This is really missing the "strategy" portion. However proper BRM is critical. Playing 10nl with $200 is really cutting it close. 20BI dont cover big downswings. I know first hand. And,technically, once you lose 10 you should be playing 5nl.

Your missing a few important points I think... (1) Move back home...the savings you can use towards poker. (2) Sell all your assets..what do you really need besides a PC anyway? (3) Make sure you have rakeback, since it's the only spending money you'll likely have. GL

When i wrote this post, I had Full Tilt in mind... so that's why my BRM is set pretty high... $200 and play in 4 tables with $2 each... at the micro stakes $0.01/$0.02. Since Full Tilt has the worst algorithm problem from all of the major poker rooms... if you are in PokerStars, Party Poker, Doyle's Room... it would be different. But it goes back to what some of you said... it comes down to your ability to beat this games, and knowing what you can do... gradually working your way up from playing 1-table to playing 2 or 3 tables at the same time.

Each site has it, and some are worst then others... don't believe me, it's cool... you don't hurt my feelings. They do say Ignorance is Bliss... However, I have check the stats of many online pros... and found that by comparing them between Full Tilt and PokerStars... they have a much better result on PokerStars then on Full Tilt for some reason... and their profit is a lot more on Stars. |
