Strange sighting at Casino Poker Tables... I play at Chinook Winds in Oregon when on vacation to Depoe Bay, and every day there I seen a young woman come into the poker room who would come sit down and put a cigarette in her mouth and not light it. Since there were no smoking tables I thought she was just feeding her oral habit. But, after a few minutes she would take it out and tap it as though knocking off ash, then after about 5 of so minutes she would crush it in ashtray and shortly put another one in her mouth...weird.... You seen strange players or at least Unusual???????

OMG, are you serious? I've never heard such bazzar thing. Did anyone care to ask her about it at the table? The wierdest thing I've ever seen is this old old lady at the Foxwoods (CT), who constantly curses out the dealers and when she looses a hand (often), she throws her cards accross the table. I'd say she is about 80. Every time I think this might be her last time playing - she is back ...I guess she does not really qualify as strange or unusual, she's just terribly rude to the people at the table. But seems to me because of her age and the tiny little body, noone cares to tell her to stop.

re: Strange sighting at Casino Poker Tables... I would assume she smokes when permitted and lit or not, if you suck on one for any length of time, they become soggy, so I can understand her stubbing it into an ashtray. What I wanna know is, if it is non-smoking, what's the ashtray doing there?

OK before Sammy Farha became popular via WSOP Final Table and High Stakes Poker I never saw anyone ever do this. Now the only place I ever see anyone holding a cig in their mouth for a lengthy period of time is at the casino while playing poker.

qwerrk that is also what is weird she would sit at a smoking part of the poker room and when guys would try to light her cig. she would refuse. I watched Sammy F. in Vegas and sometimes it is just hanging by his dry lower lip... classic!

Hey, I used to live in Lincoln City. Do you ever play at Spirit Mountain in Grand Ronde? It's about 20 miles from Lincoln City. It has a larger poker room with more tables. |

I'm not sure I would be able to handle this at one of my poker tables.... (can't stop laughing).... I would be so facinated by tis behavior I'm sure it would throw my whole game off because I wouldn't be able to take my eyes off of her.... lmfao.... I'd never be able to pay attention to the things I really should be.... In real life I'm a big goofball and I'm positive that me and at least one other person at the table would be having a hoot .... Our eyes would be having a whole conversation about her across the table without saying a thing... lol.... Yup I'm sure that would be an interesting night for me, but I'm not so sure I would win alot, if any.... I would be way to distracted laughing my ass off. And watchin her next move.....

Even with a casino only a mile away, where I never go, as a smoker I have thought about doing the same thing. Smoking is as much about the ritual as it is about the smoke. What to do with your (my) hands, and when to do it. The outside the building smoke break has always been good for gathering thoughts in a ritualistic way. So all that gal would do to me would be to make me match her smokeless for smokeless.
