Hey all, after the full tilt fiasco I've been thinkign about getting staked (BR froze...alot of manays) but the catch is I have NO CLUE on how it really works below is my main question and confusion around the issue - any help would be appreicated
(and if you could point me to some good reputable staking sites would be cool)

Example:

I make an agreement with a backer 50k hands for a 2k bankroll with no makeup, backer gives me 2k I play 50k hands and make a 1k profit we split 50/50 so we get 500 each,

Scenario 1:
the backer or I decide after the deal ends were gunan call the deal off. this meens I must give him his orignal 2k back plus 50% of the profit for that 50k hand sample. - correct?

Scenario 2:
The backer and I decide to keep the deal going and we split every 50k hands 50/50 profit , however one month I do badly and loose 1k.

does this meen whatever I earn in the next 50k handsample is 100% the backers till the debt has been paid? and what if I continue to loose after another 50k hands? ? this is were I'm most confused. And if the backer or I calls the deal off, should I give him whatever I earnt in previous months to cover what ever I can of the decieft?. plus obviously whatever is left of the backers roll I ship back.

scenario 2 shouldnt reall happen becuase I is AWESOME AT THE POKERZ - But I know bad runs happen and would like to know the ins and outs before I accept a staking deal, thanks.

If it's a no MU deal you owe him nothing ( which would be a stupid deal from a backers poiunt of view) if it's a + MU deal you have to play to MU is paid off if that's what the backer want's

There are specialist backer sites out there if your interested send me a PM and I'll point you in the right direction

Yup - banker gets his stake back and then you split profit. So 1k profit = 50/50 each.

Yes.

This all depends on the deal you set up. If you agree there will be makeup, then you have to pay the backer off if you lose money over the hand sample. If there is no makeup, then you don't have to.

I'm not sure on cash game staking but in tournament staking it's pretty standard for it to be 50/50 with makeup or 70/30 or 80/20 (in favour of the investor) with no makeup. Obviously cash games have less variance but if you have good results you'd be best off getting a long term staking deal where you get a set % of the profit and makeup carries over. A lot of the stables (the name for groups of horses, horses being those people who are staked) have coaching sessions, private forums, etc which can really help your game

not sure would a backer take these results as acceptable? I have all hands in HEM database graph whatever else a backer might want to see and have been coached 6+ months with dragthebar coach discobisco.

played for 4 years and earned alot then but no proof of database but database has tracked my last 2 years /this year been playing very seriously
250k+ hands
9k+ earnings
50nl mostly
25k hands of 100nl, - ran like a god just before ft went down :(

would that be a good poker cv for backing? do i stand a chance? lol
