staking guidelines?
I know there is no staking threads on here and this isn't one.
I just know staking happens and what kind of guidelines should people be looking for, I have offered a friend 25% plus stakeback in a cash game or 2, if not I just owe him the stake back over time. I know this is a pretty bad deal on my behalf but its because were both poor students and good friends. what constitutes a good deal for staking and how do people generally feel about it. For ages some guy followed me around on Full Tilt Poker asking me to stake him $5 for a sit and go with no benifits for doing so. It would be an easy life if all you did was beg $5 off different players with no intentions of paying them back. In the end i told him to get lost and he got mad. a bit of a round about point but its still pretty valid thread. |

About a year ago, I staked a friend of mine in a live tourney. The deal was if he won nothing, he never had to pay me a cent, but I got half of his winnings. I believe that's a pretty standard deal, and I was lucky enough that it worked out for us both.

yeah that seems pretty even - just to recap it was 50%, no stake back and if he lost it was on you?
if so thats a pretty good deal on your behalf i think, especially if your friend runs deep and cashes well. |

quote] Yep. That was the deal. He finished fourth, so it worked out like a dream. |

nice, generally speaking if I go to a tourney with friends we arrange an even split (similar to a syndicate playing the lottery) if any of us win any substantial money. This is all well and good but I seem to cash so much more than my friends but its a good job i'm pretty easy when it comes to money and friends

The most comprehensive treatment of this topic that I have seen is in this book.
